Guildsmen living in Amber City encourage their neighbors, tennants (if
they are landlords), supppliers, and even their customers, to resist
giving this sort of information to the census takers.
"They're prying, they are," is a commonly-heard complaint. "They're
asking for things they have no right to know. If they want to count
heads, that's one thing. But these fancy carpetbaggers are trying to
drive wedges between us by making us think that some of us are better
than the rest."
