Benedict's birthday is November 11...or double 11's. For those interested in astrology, this makes him a Scorpio, represented by the scorpion. Also, in some ways of thinking, the 'higher aspect' of Scorpio is represented by the Eagle. From his choice of symbols, it's easy to see that he feels himself to represent the higher aspects of the sign...or it was merely coincidence.
As quoted from a book from Shadow Earth:
"Jealousy is the worst of Scorpio's faults.... Most Scorpios are capable of deep, incisive and analytical thought; they have a powerful urge to get to the root of any problem. They also want to get the most out of life, cramming every day with work and demanding sparetime interests. They may force themselves to extremes of action, and so should try to release their energy as evenly as possible.... Above all else...Scorpios really need to be emotionally involved in their careers. They need emotional and financial security, and are willing to work hard to achieve and maintain it, and to improve their standard of living....Scorpios will probably resist enforced change; thei natural stubborness will rise to the surface."
Benedict represents the sign truly, showing and intense and passionate nature (hey...how much time did he spend out in Shadow, learning his craft?), even as he's secretive about what exactly he does out there. He keeps the secrets of others as closely as his own (Isn't that right, Eric?), but unfortunately the worst aspects of the sign crept up on him. In viewed in a particular light (certainly his enemies would agree...or would, if they were still alive), he can be viewed as being petty and vengeful, taking any slight in and carefully planning a revenge. Course, not that many people have crossed Benedict and told the tale. At least, none have made it from Shadow to Amber with such tales.
His Ascendant was also a Scorpio.
"People with Scorpio rising generally feel a strong need to know themselves. They don't care to reveal themselves to others but their ability for self-analysis is considerable, and they are usually capable of seeing their own problems clearly and honestly. This introspective tendency may result in the feeling that they do not like themselves very much..."
Whether all that above is true or not, what he is he is, he doesn't seem to feel the need to share it with anyone. Oh...sure...he'll tell stories, but mostly they are directed outward, to things he's seen rather things he had done. It seems as if he's almost ashamed of it, but at any rate, he doesn't talk about the gruesome work he sets himself to for years at a time.
And lastly, his Moon is in Capricorn.
"There is a very cool, calm reaction to the situations for individuals with this placing, and the emotional responses are rather low, or at least very much under control. There can also be a tendency to aloofness, which gives the impression that these people want, for reasons of their own, to distance themselves from other (sometimes, in their eyes, lesser) mortals.... The urge to fulfil aspirations and ambitions is considerable.... There is also an inner desire to impress other people, and a sense of pride, making the subject unwilling to accept help when it is offered. This is because it could be considered charity, and so acceptance may be seen as a sign of weakness."
Hmm...well, controlled Benedict is. The other stuff? Well, he's not talking about it.
Excerpts from Parkers' Astrology by Julia and Derek Parker. I put so much in because this player is into that "New Age freaky stuff". Side note: This was moved here because the front page was getting too big for Geocities' file editors to handle. It wasn't terribly necessary on the main page anyhow.
