The Wizard in Rhyme
This series starts with the book, Her Majesty's Wizard, the story of Matt Mantrell a young literature student who is swept into a world where poetry creates magic. When he discovers that the country he stumbled upon is ruled by an evil usurper, Matt vows to free the rightful ruler, a young princess kept locked up in the dungeon. He draws allies from various sources, including a sarcastic dragon.
The second book, The Oathbound Wizard, tells what happens when one makes a vow in a magical kingdom. Upon discovering that he could not marry his true love, a princess, Matt Mantrell, Magician, vows to conquer a kingdom to become royalty. Without realizing it, he had committed himself to a task that could prove impossible.
