At this moment, I'm not certain how many books are in this series, I'm working on finding the third book, Dragon Revenant. I have read Daggerwood and Darkwood so far and my father skipped around and started with the sixth or seventh book. Which ever way you chose to read them, it's up to you. Anyway, I am particularly fond of these two books, maybe it's because I'm a romantic and there is something very bittersweet and touching about the story line of these books.
Daggerwood begins with the tale of a young prince who, selfishly parts two lovers who were destined for each other. Upon discovering the damage done, he vowed never to rest until he had made the wrong right. The gods accepted his vow and Nevyn, or no one, lived through several lifetimes. The lives of the two lovers and those close to them were intertwined throughout the ages and each incarnation provided a chance for Nevyn to repair the damage. This first book is about Nevyn's quest to find the key characters in his solution.
Darkwood continues the story of Nevyn as he is joined by Jill and Rhodry, the two ill-fated lovers. While Nevyn's sets about working on his quest, trouble arises with a dark magician and his followers. Using already strained relations, the sorcerer stirs up more trouble that is mostly stopped by Nevyn. However, the turmoil causes Rhodry to be exiled and Jill follows him. Nevyn must then follow them and continue to work at fixing the wrong he created.
