Kyp Durron

Kyp was born in the Deyer colony of the Anoat system to a family of outspoken politicians. His parents spoke out against some of Palpatine's more extreme policies, believing they could make a difference. They discovered wrong they were when stormtroopers broke down their door.

Kyp and his parents became political prisoners, while Kyp's brother Zeth was conscripted into the Imperial military.

Kyp and his parents were remanded to a life of hard labor in the spice mines of Kessel.

His parents died in a prison revolt, but Kyp lived for 8 years as a spice miner.

During this time, Kyp met up with Vima-Da-Boda, an old Jedi woman, who taught him a great deal about the Force, but little about the difference between the Light and Dark Sides.

Han Solo and Chewbacca became prisoners in the Kessel mines and the three met up with each other. Together they staged an escape and were successful.

Han took Kyp to Yavin IV to get some intensive training from Luke Skywalker, who had established his Jedi Academy just recently.

Kyp had only been at the academy a week when the spirit of Exar Kun, an ancient Dark Lord of the Sith appeared to him to offer him an easier path. (This is all detailed in the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson)

After those circumstances were over and done with, Kyp once again followed the disciplines of the Jedi, eventually being named a senior student at the academy and finally receiving the responsibilities of a teacher.

Kyp married Dawn Marina Skywalker and the two of them have had three children. Marina's job as a Rebel agent in the Imperial navy has been hard on Kyp, but Marina has recently returned to Kyp.

She left suddenly, wanting to purge herself of the Dark Side completely.
