FATHER

      Jake Sisko is slowly walking throw the Promenadae, looking very bored as he spots a young girl of about fourteen years old eating at one of the shops.  At first glance he sees her pointed ears and then he noticed that she has the spots like those of a Trill.  He sees that she is eating all alone and with a big smile he walks up to her and introduce himself to her, "Hi, you look new here?  My name is Jake Sisko, what's your?"
   The girl turns a little red as she turns and looks at him and answers him, "Sam, do you just walk up to everyone you meet and asks who they are?"
   Jake looks around the Promenade a little shyly and answers her, "No, just people I would like to get to now."  He gives her a little smile and says, "Is't Sam a boy name?"
   Sam throws her head back and gives him a loud laugh as she answers him, "It's short for Sumanth, I hate that name."
   Jake gives her a little laugh as he asks, "So Sam when did your arrive on the station?"
   "My father and I arrived on the USS Tribune late last night.  We are waiting for the USS Herman to arrive.  Then it's off into the Gamma Quadrant for the next five years."
  Jakes eyes get big as he says, "Five years!"
   "I do not much like the idea, but I don't have anywhere ease to live on this side of the Neutral Zone!"
  Jake is taken back as he again sees her pointed eyes again and says, "You are a Romulan?"
   Sam shows him a big smile as she answers him; "I'm part Romulan part Trill and part Human.  My mother was Romulan.  My father is half Trill, half human."
   "Your mother was Romulan?"  Jake asks as his mouth drops open.
  "She died right after I was born on Mars, my father does not talk much about his side of the family.  I think it has something to do with his father being a Trill host and all."  She shows him a big smile as she says, "He comes my daddy now."
  Jake turns around and sees a Star Fleet office walking towards them with a big smile on his face.  "I see you have already made a new friend Sumanth."
   "Daddy I would like you to meet Jake Sisko, Jake this is my father Lt. Peter Bowden."  Sam answers as she looks at Jake with a little smile.
  "You must be the Commander's son then?"  The Peter asks as he points his hand on Jake's shoulder.  "Jake I'm looking for someone on this station and I wonder if you could help me?"
   "Sure I know just about everyone on the station."  Jake answers with a big smile.
   "Good becouse I'm looking for someone who goes by the name Curzon Dax."  Peter says with a very big smile this time.
    "Curzon Dax is dead, but his symbiont is in Lt. Jadzia Dax."  Jake answers as he looks up at the Peter.
   "Dad who is this Curzon Dax?"  Sam asks as she looks up at her father with a puzzle look on her face.
   "My no good womanizing father is who he is!"  Peter answers her as he looks at Jake and asks, "Where can I find this Jadzia Dax?"
   Just then Jake spots Lt. Jadzia Dax heading towards him, he raise his right hand and answers Peter, "Here she comes now."
  Dax walks up to them with a small smile and says, "Lt. I hear you wanted to be informed what time the Herman was do to arrive?  It will be dock here at 0100 hours tomorrow."
   Peter slowly looks Dax over from head to toe and then answers her, "Thank you, father!"
   Dax is token back a bit as she asks him, "Have we every meet somewhere, before? I do not remember anyone from any of my pasted named Bowden."
  Peter gives her a little laugh as he answers her; "It was my mother's maiden name.  Does the name Jill Smith sound too you?"
  A smile comes over Dax's face as she says, "She was a very good friend of Curzon Dax."
   Peter grabs the back of Jake's chair and leans towards Dax and with a very mean look on his face almost shouting, "A good friend, when her husband found out that the child she was carrying was not his, he threw her out with nothing!"
    Dax raise one hand to her mouth and says, "Curzon did not now!"
    "Sumanth says hello too your grandfather."  Peter tells Sumanth as he keeps an eye on Dax.
   Sumanth looks up at Dax and says, "I do not think I could every call you grandfather.  You are so young."
   "Sumanth you had better get back to our cabin and finish your school work or Vale will be unhappy with you."  Peter tells Sumanth as he let go of Jake chair and takes a step back.
   Dax watches Sumanth get up and walk over to Peter and give him a little kiss on the chin and then she walks away.  "Who is Vale?"  Dax asks Peter.
   "A very good friend."  Peter answers as he turns and follows his daughter.
  Jake looks up at Dax with a little smile and says, "I do not think he like you too much."
  "It would look like it."  Dax answers Jake as she turn and walks away from Jake as she is shaking her head no.

   Dax gets on a turbolift and rides it up to Ops where she sees Kira at her station and asks, "Is the commander in his office?"
   Kira glances up at her and sees a very worried Dax and asks, "Yes, he in his office doing the daily reposts, are you all right?"
   Dax walks up the stairs to Sisko office without answers Kira and walks intot his office and sees him working and says, "I may have a probem, I need to contact the Mars Colony record office."  She looks down at her feet and adds, "Curzon may have had a son he did not know about!"
   Sisko leans back in his chair and looks up at her and answers her, "Take all the time you need old man."
   Dax starts to turn away but stop and looks back and asks, "I do not know what to says to him, when I meet him, just a little while ago."

   For the next two hours Dax is reading all the information she can on Lt. Peter Bowden she can.  She turns off her viewer and leans back and shakes her head no as she says, "It's true he is Curzon son."  She wipes a tear off her face as she gets up and says, "Curzon you were a fool!"  

   Dax is walking down a corriodor when she comes to a door and she pushes she hears the chimes and then Peter voice says, "Come in."  Dax walks in and sees Peter sitting at a table eating, he looks up and says, "Hi, father would you like something to eat?"
   Dax walks up to him and says, "I have just spent the last two hours reading up on you, but it does not tell me much about your past!"
  Peter leans back and answers her, "After I was born, mom went to work in a factory making ships for Star Fleet.  When I was nine years old, mom died in an accident at the factory.  I was moved from foster home to foster home, I was a little bit of a rebel."  He gets up and walks over to a window and continued, "The last one I live on was a farmer and his wife, I loved it their becouse they had a Romulan family living with them.  They had a young daughter and I fell in love with her."
   Dax sits down and asks, "You mean Sumanth mother was a Romulan?"
   Peter nobs his head yes as he continues, "When we were both seventeen we got married, three years later she died giving birth to Sumanth.  I was so upset that I stoled a land speeder and went out to kill myself, but I was caught before I could do it."  He turns and and says, "The Judge gave me two choses, one a penal colony for two year and never sees my daughter again or take the Star Fleet entrance exam, I toke the exam."
   "Why did you wait this long to contact Curzon?"  Dax asks as she puts a hand on his shoulder.
   "Last year I finaly got mom personal log, by that time I was so busy with Sumanth and other thing I just never got around to it."
   "I would think it would be real hard on Sumanth being part Romulan?"  Dax asks as she smiles at it."
   Just then Sumanth enter the room with a big smile on her face and says, "Dad I just got a message from Vale and she said to tell you she has a big surprise for her lover boy!  Dad what does she mean Lover boy?"
   Peter turns a little red as he answers her, "I will tell you when you are older, no off to bed."
  After Sumanth has going back intoher room Dax looks at Peter and says, Just who is this Vale son?"
   "She is the first officer of the USS Herman and we are planning on getting married next year.  She is also a Vulcan, I have always had a thing for women with pointed ears."  Peter sits back down and looks towards Sumanth room and says, "Sumanth set me with a blind date with her when we were on the USS Mississippi three years ago."
   "I can hardly want to meet her, son."  Dax answers as she head towards the door but stop and turns and looks at him and says, "If Curzon had now he would have made a point of seeing you more."

   The next morning Dax is just walking onto Ops as she asks Kira, "Has the USS Herman finish docking yet?"
   Kira looks up and answers her, "It has just finshed, I have a message from it fisrt officer to find Lt. Bowden and have he report right away to her!"
  "Lt. I would like to meet your son and granddaughter old man."  Sisko says as he exits his office.
    
   An airlock Sisko and Dax are walking up to where Lt. Bowden and his daughter Sumanth are getting ready to enter.  When they sees them coming they stop and want for them as Peter says, "I see you have come to see me off father."
  Just then the door opens and Sumanth eyes start to get large as a very pregnant female Vulcan is standing on the other side.  She looks at Peter and says, "It would seam we will have to move our wedding date up Lt."
   Sumanth looks up at her father with a big smile and says, "Dad it looks like we need to talk about the birds and the bees."
   Everyone but Vale starts to laught, as Peter walks up to her and puts his arm around her and says, "It sure looks like it."
    "Good the captain is waiting for us now."  Vale answers as she turns and heads back towards the ship.
