Jeanne-Marie spent most of her life at Madam DuPont's School for Girls after her parents died in a car crash. She was raised by Catholic nuns in Quebec to be a very prim and proper young lady. When her powers of flight began to surface years later she told her story to the nuns as a tale of divine intervention. The nuns hearing only blasphemy punish the foolish girl for her tale. Repressing that side of her Jeanne-Marie managed to create another more free and flamboyant personality. It was this other
personality that would cause Jeanne-Marie to disappear during the night and return the next morning exhausted. Years later after keeping her other personality locked away she becomes a teacher at the school she hated so much. Her other personality returns however and Jeanne-Marie gets herself into trouble on the streets of Montreal. She is saved however by the ol' canucklehead himself Wolverine who takes her to his good friend James Hudson. It is through Alpha Flight that she is reunited with her twin brother Jean-Paul. The two of them discover also that by touching they can generate a bright light.
Over her term with the team Jeanne-Marie has undergone a lot of changes beginning with her power. Her then lover Sasquatch had the idea of altering her powers so that she could not be detected as a mutant. The end result was a costume change and her no longer being able to generate light with her brother but being able to generate a dimmer light on her own. Also when the now touched they canceled each others powers instead of strengthening them as before. After her lover Sasquatch was revealed to be one of the great beasts and his body was destroyed and his consciousness stored in the robot form of BOX their relationship started to cool. And when Walter eventually did die trying to get a real body to please Aurora she moved on to the genius inventor Roger Bochs. Eventually causing his downfall as well when he was merged into the creature known as Omega with Scramble. All this trouble that Aurora was causing among the team really began to tick off her brother Northstar who became very distant from her. Over this time period Northstar was suffering from an unknown illness. This culminated in the story line where Loki the god of lies revealed that the twins were really elves and that Northstar needed the light of the elven lands to heal. To save his life Aurora transferred her light generating powers to her brother somehow and he then went to the elven realms of Asgaard. Aurora herself became a nun and left the team.
With the crisis brought about by Llan the Sorcerer Aurora was summoned back to duty by Talisman to help find her brother in Asgaard. She transferred what power she could back to him and they regained their old powers. Her powers however begin to evolve to the point where she could on her own give off a light that would cleanse the soul or something. After a brief period of active duty she retired to the ranks of the research wing. She came back to active duty though after her mind was messed with by Headlok. She had the odd trait of switching between personalities much more frequently and her powers increased to the point where she could even fire lightening bolts.
More recently she has been seen with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants who rescued her from reclamation by the more sinister Department H. Her dual personalities are as strong as ever in this incarnation. Luckily Auruora did manage to make it back to her old friends of the original Alpha Flight and is within their protective fold once again.
