Israel Information Center -- Whose Land?

by Alyza

The land of Israel is claimed by Jews and by Arabs. So whose land is it anyway? Clearly, unless you want to revise history -- that is, lie -- it belonged to the Jews in Roman times. To give up ownership means moving out with intent to stay out. But the Jews never moved out, not totally. Always there were some Jews there to maintain a Jewish presence in the land. Additionally, those who were forced into exile continued to long to return. We never gave up hope of returning to our land.

It is well known that people who own their own home tend, on average, to take better care of it than those who rent it. The Jews have planted trees and drained swamps, making a land dead since the exile of must Jews from the land, bloom again. In contrast, Arab terrorists light those forests ablaze. One does not burn down ones home. For nearly 2 millennia during which Jews had no political control, the land remained a waste land.

How about assigning ownership? Does not the Bible in Genesis 35:10-12 give ownership of the land to the children of Israel? "And G-d said to him, Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be your name; and he called his name Israel. And G-d said to him, I am G-d Almighty; be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come from your loins; And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to you I will give it, and to your seed after you will I give the land." Not only was it given to Jacob's descendants, but it was given to them eternally. Genesis 48:3-4 says "And Jacob said to Joseph, G-d Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me, And said to me, Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of people; and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.

Later in Exodus 6:8. G-d says "And I will bring you in to the land, concerning which I swore to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage; I am the L-rd." Never mind that the League of Nations mandated for all of the area (it was never a nation) of Palestine to be given to the Jews, never mind that the British gave the majority of it to make the nation of Jordan, G-d gave the land of Israel to the Jews eternally.

Oh, I know, the Arab Muslims don't read the Bible, but the Qur'an says the same thing, telling Moses to lead the Jewish people to their own land, the land of Israel. One has to ignore that quote or claim that G-d changed His mind due to Jewish misdeeds, so as to authenticate a desire to claim what G-d clearly gave to the Jewish people.

"And [remember] when Moses said to his people: 'O my people, call in remembrance the favour of God unto you, when he produced prophets among you, made you kings, and gave to you what He had not given to any other among the peoples. O my people, enter the Holy Land which God has assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin.'" [Qur'an 5:20-21] ( What the Quran Really Says)

But what about the Palestinian people? If you have read my article on Canaanite vs. Arabs, you know that the majority of those called Palestinian today are Arabs and even non-Arabs of many nations. Most of them started entering the land when the Jews started to return in number. They came for the jobs and the better conditions, and they stayed. They keep coming in today.
