THE STORY:

FIRST HOUR

The first hour essentially would be a rebroadcast of the series' first episode, "Liberation Day" which begins where "The Final Battle" left off. As Martin pilots the Los Angeles Mothership back to earth, sensors pick up Diana's shuttlecraft. Mike Donovan jumps in a shuttle, pursues Diana back to earth, shoots her down, and gets into a wrestling match with her. Curiously, Diana somehow manages to breathe red dust contaminated air without suffering any adverse effects whatsoever. This anomaly would have to be corrected by reshooting the scene with Diana wearing some kind of gas mask or breathing apparatus (which might be common emergency equipment on a Visitor shuttlecraft). Two armed men converge on the crash site and see Diana and Mike (both dressed in Visitor uniforms) rolling on the ground. They aim their rifles and prepare to fire. Mike screams at them not to shoot.

The story then jumps ahead one year as the world celebrates the first anniversary of its victory over the Visitors. Willie works for Elias Taylor who has opened a restaurant called the Club Creole. Martin assists Mike Donovan who works for a L.A. news station. Mike's son, Sean, has been sent to Ojai for treatment of his conversion disorder. Julie Parrish works for Nathan Bates at Science Frontiers which has been awarded a government contract to unlock the secrets of the captured L.A. Mothership. Bates also produces the red dust and the antidote which Visitors like Willie and Martin must take every 12 hours to stay alive. Robert, Robin, and Elizabeth Maxwell live on a ranch. With some reluctance, Robin goes off on a vacation to Santa Cruz. Diana awaits trial for crimes against humanity.

Unable to crack Diana's security codes on the Mothership, Nathan Bates hires Ham Tyler, who runs his own security firm, to stage Diana's assassination just before her trial. Diana is then transported to a secluded cabin where Bates holds her prisoner. Bates promises that Ham can have Diana once she has given him all the information he needs. Mike Donovan and Martin figure out what Bates is up to and where he is hiding Diana. Martin knocks out Mike and confronts Diana on his own. Just as he is about to shoot her, he is attacked by one of Bates' men. Diana grabs Martin's laser gun and tells him that he has something she needs. When Donovan wakes up, he finds the cabin on fire and a badly burned Martin lying beside him. Martin tells him that Diana has taken his last antidote pill and will try to contact the Visitor fleet. Mike follows Diana to a nearby tracking station. Ham Tyler proceeds to the tracking station as well when he learns that Diana has escaped. By the time they get there, Diana has already signaled the fleet. Just as the 12-hour protection provided by Martin's last antidote pill wears off, a Visitor shuttlecraft arrives and Diana returns to the Visitor fleet which has regrouped behind the moon. Diana notes that neither she nor any of her rescuers were affected by the red dust.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth notices a strange lesion on her arm and shows it to Robert who calls Julie for help. The lesion grows, and Elizabeth becomes very ill. Julie is unable to come up with any explanation for Elizabeth's illness and fears that she might be undergoing some kind of metamorphosis. Elizabeth sneaks away and hides in a cave. Robert and Julie track her down and find her encased inside a cocoon. Julie tells Robert that Elizabeth is going through a metabolic change and that they have to let it run its course.
