The 'Avenger' class Patrol Frigate is a staple of the Carrillian Assembly Navy, generally assigned to independent patrol of the borders and beyond, wherever the Assembly needs to show the flag. Its design is similar to other ships of the same size found in various parts of the Imperium. It carries three armed pinnaces for scouting and customs details, as well as having the capacity to land its 22 troops with a minimum of hassle and a maximum of fire support. It costs 518.8582 MCr fully loaded, much less than a simularly equiped standard Mercenary Cruiser (a.k.a., 'Happy Fun Ball'). Surplus Avengers have found their way into the Navies of Assembly allies and client states, and several are investing Ildrissar to help suppress the long-running rebellion there. Over 500 units have been manufactured, 300 of them within the last 3 years. Cheaply made and indifferently crewed, the Avenger is still a match for ships of its own size.

DECK PLANS
Shown are frontal cutaway and port cutaway drawings of the ship showing relative locations and sizes of all four decks.
The Avenger Class has two identical bridges (1) joined by a connecting corridor (2). Both bridges have pilot and navigator stations. Only one needs manning in normal operations. In combat, both are manned. The computer (3) is mounted aft and between the bridges, with dual beam laser turrets (5, 6) accessed off the port and starboard bridges. The hatch in the floor of the computer room connecting passageway matches the one in the ceiling leading to a dual sandcaster turret.
This deck contains quarters and living facilities for crew and troops.

Forward (7) is a double missle turrent. Dual laser turrets (8,9) are on port and starboard. A barracks area (10), "gropo country", has provisions for 20 Assembly Peacekeepers (Carrillian Navy) or shipboard troops (allied state), including bunks, showers, lockers, and equipment storage areas.

The wardroom (11) is the recreation and mess area for the ship's officers, while the crew lounge (12) is shared by enlisted sailors and the gropos. Single-occupancy staterooms (13) are provided for ship's crew and the gropo CO and NCO. On some ships, double occupancy is imposed to allow an additional 24 gropos.

Aft, (14) is mounted a dual missile rack.

The fuel deck is a wege-shaped level holding fuel, engineering, and what little cargo the ship carries.

All 290 tons of fuel (Fuel) are on this level, with a pair of scoops forward to allow wilderness refueling. Purification is installed.

The small cargo bay (16) carries spares for the ship's environmental systems to increase its endurance as well as spare missiles for the racks and any special equipment needed by the Peacekeepers. 58 tons of space is provided. A cargo ramp (17) allows easier access to the bay.

In the Engineering Section (18) are the main power plant (19), the Jump drive (20), and the manuver drive (21).

The bottommost level of the ship provides docking facilities for the three pinnaces.

The lower turret (22) mounts a dual missile rack, while port (23), starboard (24) and aft (25) are pinnace docks. The pinnaces are standard 40 ton designs common throughout the Imperium and beyond.
