Return of the Winter Snowflakes -- Saturday, October 30, 2004
Hello everyone, I regret to say that I really can't do anything special to the website for Halloween since I don't use very many images yet. I really couldn't do anything special this year anyways. It's like they say, there is always next year. Empty promises always seem to be hurting me, but I can at least survive this one.
Anyways, I've beaten Pokémon Colosseum this morning, which means I have over 325 Pokémon in all of my games put together. I am getting very close to collecting every kind of berry into my Pokémon Sapphire. I am only missing three of them, not including Starf and Enigma. There is still much work to be done.
Lots of new music! -- Tuesday, October 26, 2004
I have finally gotten around to finding new Pokémon music from VGMusic. I found many MIDI files made from Ruby & Sapphire, but they didn't have anything for FireRed & LeafGreen. Since I use them as my background music, they should last me well over a year. Hopefully, by that time they will have MIDI for FireRed & LeafGreen! ^_^
Halloween is coming up very soon, and I really don't know what to do with the website. Hopefully, I will dream up a good idea tonight and use it tomorrow! While I'm at it, I will be replacing the sakura with fall leaves or winter snow.
Pokémon IV Calculator Optimizations Again -- Sunday, October 24, 2004
I've been working hard on the Pokémon IV Calculator for over three hours throughout my day already. I'm trying so hard to make the code just the way I like it and its taking me a long time, but I'm learning a lot about JavaScript even though I will never really program anything using it. Programming is a very fun and easy way of increasing your logic, so I will continue to play around with this calculator for a while.
Pokémon IV Calculator Optimizations -- Saturday, October 23, 2004
I've been working on the Pokémon IV Calculator for hours after school and somewhat updated the code bringing it up to version 1.1. I still consider the calculator to be an unfinished project, but it should be working perfectly fine already. I am going to try to optimize the code since it is about 50kb in size when it should only have to be 30kb.
I've also been thinking a lot about how the shared information between Pokémon RSE, FRLG, & Colosseum should be served on my website, such as Pokémon Natures. I'll be trying to figure out a way so that I won't have to make copies of content that already exists. After the calculator, I'll be working on Berries!
The Pokémon IV Calculator -- Friday, October 22, 2004
I've finally finished my Pokémon IV Calculator for Pokémon FR/LG today. I was going to just copy the code from the downloadable calculator found at Legendary Pokemon, but then I couldn't understand how it worked so I started to learn JavaScript. I eventually made my own calculator, but it is not as complex as that downloadable calculator. I plan to add many new features and just call it "Pokémon Calculator" in the next couple of months.
A lot of the code that went into my calculator is either copied from or very similar to the downloadable calculator at Legendary Pokemon, so I will be
giving the author full credit until my calculator is no longer similar to that one. Kind of like how the Half-Life engine is no longer considered a to be the Quake engine.
I'm back again! -- Thursday, October 21, 2004
Alright, I am so sorry for working so hard for the first half of September and then just leaving for four weeks without notice. But I won't give you some overused excuse like "I've been having real life problems". The thing is, I've really been trying to figure out what to do next. I'll try to explain my situation, and if you understand a lot about Pokémon games, then you should understand why I am so busy. It is quite a long story, but read it anyways because you will find it interesting and you will most likely learn something!
The reason I have been busy lately involving Pokémon
I really want to enter a Pokémon FR/LG tournament. With my kind of logic, I seriously think I have what it takes to be the champion. Since fire Pokémon are my favorite kind of Pokémon, I decided to build my team around the strongest kind of Charizard I can possibly ever get my hands on. That is, my starter Charizard has a Quiet nature with 31 IVs and 255 EVs for both Sp.Atk & Speed. I want my Charizard to win the master rank of the beauty contests in Hoenn before I teach him the final move set of Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Heat Wave, and Blast Burn. This Charizard is obviously the most quickest and powerful sweeper the game has to offer not including the one-of-a-kind Pokémon such as Mewtwo, Groudon, and Deoxys.
Before I could try to win all of the beauty contests in Hoenn, I need to raise my Charizard's beauty to the absolute max, and the only way to do that is the make extremely powerful Indigo Pokéblocks made from the best kinds of berries. I can get my friends to help me blend the best Pokéblocks, but I need to grow at least 10 of each berry that I will be using for each game. I like to use every last soil patch in my Sapphire game to plant berries in since my brother is playing my Ruby game and hasn't beaten it yet. I got rid of my Sapphire's Gyarados too early when I was in the middle of beating Fire Red because I thought I would replace it right away with one of the offspring from the Lapras I would acquire in the game. It turns out the my Lapras actually had such a strong Sp.Atk & Sp.Def that I just had to train it to become my second tournament Pokémon. I was saving my Lapras to be well trained at a later time, so I couldn't breed as soon as I wanted to. Since I didn't have a Pokémon with Surf on my Sapphire, I had been discouraged from growing berries for such a long time.
I really needed a Solid Board so I could make the ultimate secret base, but the Rooftop Clearance Sale never appears in my game. A few days ago it finally arrived and I must have spent many hours designing my base. I was also trying to breed a prefect Oddish to use Cut with, and to breed a perfect Ryhorn with Crush Claw and Sunny Day. Because I never use any TMs in any of my games unless its absolutely necessary, I must have taken over a week to research and train two of each Pokémon such as Roselia, Tropius, Oddish, Seedot, Zangoose, Ryhorn. I had been breeding many Eevees to finally get some with high IVs since my friend gave me two very weak ones with Toxic. It took me 5 generations of Eevees, but I finally got good ones. Now, it was only 2 days ago that I had finished perfectly training my Lapras and breeding it for many more strong Lapras. I have now transferred a Lapras to my Sapphire game and had been using it for great transport. I can now continue to grow all of my berries in all my patches of soil. I should now be able to continue my work.
