Sitting on the porch swing
Watching the storm go by
Holding you in my arms
Watching the sky
The thunder rolls and the lightning flashes
The rain pours down from the sky
But you and I are in love
In a love that will never die
Gaining courage as the night goes on
To ask the question that will change our lives
To ask you a question so dear to my heart
To ask you a question that we will never part
And as the storm ended and the clouds rolled away
The moon high in the sky
And the stars out to play
I decided to ask before I die
I pulled out the box of red velvet
And fell to my knees
I opened the box and asked
Would you marry me?
You fell to your knees in front of me
And hugged me and then kissed me so soft
Then whispered in my ear ,forever I will be yours
Yes I will, for you are me and I are you, forever in love
I placed the ring on your finger
And drew you close to me
I kissed your sweet lips
And thanked god for this precise gift from above.
