Long ago Vampires ran rampant through the nights—terrorizing all that they could. Fear ruled, as the nights were not safe. The status of “Vampire” was laughable as vamps across the world turned all that they could. The clans were large and hard to police, there were simply too many members.
The Priscus clan, usually a clan respected for its peacefulness, and wisdom took a stance. The killing must end; the population of the dark children must dwindle. The Di Nerezza’s and the De La Nuit’s stood firm with the eldest clan. The warrior clans, particularly the Andrasta’s refused to follow the Wise Ones’ decree. War broke out among the warriors, and the Priscus, Di Nerezza’s and De La Nuit’s were called upon to back their words up with force. A clan war began, and for once the Children of the Dark Night took to killing one another, and not the masses.
The Goddess Athena watched the wars closely. The battles, as the hatreds, ran deep for nearly 400 years. Finally, bored with the fighting, Athena and her Demon sisters orchestrated one last clash. They decided who would and would not survive. Those clans which they sought to preserve were fighting in lesser wars, and those which they sought to destroy were brought to the final war. The war to end all wars. When the dust settled the only vampires left standing were the Delano men—they were the only members of their new clan to survive. The Di Nerezza’s were forced to re-supply, as they had lost many dear clan members to the wars, and the Priscus were preserved almost wholly. Those that were left of the warring tribes were sentenced to band together for survival. They became the Vom Blut clan. Their name reminding them for all eternity that they were responsible for their own demise. They had not only been born of blood, but been sacrificed in it as well.

The Diablo Sisters, Four fierce Demons who command the Sisters of Death Clan are believed to be responsible for the entire Vampire race. Legend has it that before humans ever inhabited the Earth, Demons ran rampant on it's soil. When the humans began to emerge and take over, the demons were slowly forced back into their realm, known as the Other Realm. However before the last demon left the Earth, they decided to create some mischief, or perhaps it was in retaliation for making them leave, no one knows for sure. That last demon bit a human as it left the Earth. This bite caused blood lust. A lust never before experienced by another human being. Soon, this one had become thousands, and thus the race of Vampires was born.
When the ancient gods got word of the Demon's actions, a council was formed and each sister in turn was called upon to witness what the other had done. They would not point fingers at the offending party, instead each one claimed to be responsible. Each begged that only she be punished for these wrongs. The council exasperated finally made a declaration. That since they still did not know which sister was the perpetrator, they would punish all four. They were stripped of most of their powers as well as the ability to ever communicate with those in the Other Realm. Each sister was sent back to Earth to police the wrong doings of one. They were each sent to the four corners of the earth. They would have to search for each other for years, while correcting their wrongs. But as a consolation prize of sorts they were allowed to retain the powers of the four horsemen and control the elements of the Earth, in their quest to return the world back to its ordered fashion.
This sisters as always have however allowed their creations to continue to live on. After all the sisters being demons themselves, and evil ones at that, quite enjoy their little society. The Council however has never found need to contact them, as the sisters have always wielded their power over their children. The Clan Wars proved that they would take only so much corruption and death. And after all, the Council sees the Sisters as doing their dirty work. Living on the Earth with its putrid inhabitants keeping some semblance of peace and justice in motion.

Throughout the history of the Vampire race, there has always been rivalry between the many different factions, or families, sometimes known as Clans. Whether it be over territory or long standing grudges, Clans have long been at each other's throats. Alliances have been made across clan lines for protection for some, while others chose to stand alone and take care of only their own. Dating among these clans was not only expressly forbidden, it meant death to the offending parties. Long ago, there were as many clans as the grains of sand on a beach. Each family fought to be the best of everything and thus they multiplied.
Soon, though, Vampires were simply taking over the earth. With only a few disputes erupting from time to time. Each clan pretty much ignored the others and sought to keep its numbers up. Each dabbled in its own expertise. For the Di Nerezza family, it was business connections, for the Andraste, hired killers for warring humans. But as the numbers of each clan began to increase, more and more clans would dispute over land and ownership. More and more entire families were being annihilated by other families. Watchers sat back and enjoyed their front row seats as the killing continued. Often the watchers would band into large groups, and form a warring party to eliminate the last members of battle torn clans.
Finally, though the Priscus clan, always wise and all knowing, demanded that the killing stop, both of Vampires and humans. The warring clans needed chances to replenish, and the others needed time to diminish. The Warrior clans such as the Andraste and Hadick refused, instead they declared war on the Priscus, and in turn the Di Nerezza's and De La Nuit's who stood firm with the Priscus clan in their declaration.
War tore across the world, everywhere that vampires of different clans ran across each other, there was a battle. The Diablo sisters, watched their children desecrating each other, keeping tally and eagerly awaiting the outcome. However it was long in coming and finally after 400 years of fighting Athena as acting Demon of War, planned a last clash. The sisters had decided which clans would continue and which ones would die out. When the dust had settled on the battle to end all battles, only Guillome and his sons, the newly turned vampire additions to the De La Nuit clan were left standing. Rumors took off and soon Athena's sister, Venus was romantically linked with Audrie Delano, being his family's saving grace. As penance for their survival, the sisters took Stefan Delano and left him to wonder the world, in search of his family, letting them believe that he was dead.
The Delano men set about rebuilding their clan, changing their name to Delano, to help trick the watchers for a bit. The Di Nerezza clan lost many valued family members, but Canio, Elena and their Children still survived. The Priscus Clan was protected losing only a handful of members. The Warrior clans, were not so lucky however. Those few left of the Andraste and Hadick clans were forced to band together for survival. Enemies became allies. The Sisters renamed this band of misfits the Vom Blut Clan, to always remind them of their betrayals.

Andrasta Clan This clan was a fearless band of warrior like vampires. They were headed by King Sorvino. Sorvino became distraught at his daughter, Persephone’s death at the hands of her vampire coven that crossed clan lines. He blamed Thera Di Nerezza imparticularly and as a result began trying to take over Di Nerezza family holdings throughout the world, by brute force. This caused a long standing dispute among the two tribes, and fueled Sorvino’s hate as the majority of the vampire clans stood with the Di Nerezza’s when the dispute reached the table of the council. Thus it was hardly surprising when the Andrasta Clan stood up against the Priscus decree for peace. The single event that sparked the Clan Wars.
De La Nuit Clan This ancient French clan was almost as old as the Priscus clan itself. The clan leader, Albert was a very respected vampire and his clan was very much loved and revered as the Priscus is today. Albert, much like Marie Priscus and Canio Di Nerezza had his hand in almost everything. He was a shrewd businessman. His wife, Louise, was loved and a trendsetter, even for the humans. However, Albert had a secret life. He and Chamber Hadick were lovers. He allowed her to cloud his mind in many decisions that he made. Slowly his clan began to lose its hold on many of its business endeavors. The clan wars were a last ditch effort to reclaim the De La Nuit’s hold on it’s industries. It was to late, however and Albert watched as his wife, and children were killed before his very eyes. In his grief, he attacked a camp of sleeping men out on a work program, set up by the US government to help alleviate the affects of the Great Depression. He happened upon Guillome and his sons, who were actual descendants of his family and reminded by Stefan of his now dead son, Jean Luc, Albert vamped Stefan, his brothers, and their father. He had planned to protect them from the war, but they were sucked into the last battle, where Albert lost his life at the hands of his mistress. The De La Nuit clan died with Albert, as Guillome and his sons saw the damage that Albert had done to his loved ones. Guillome now the head of the clan, switched his family’s name to Delano to keep the watchers at bay, as he set out on his own to form his own clan. Days old, he returned to his family in New York City, grief stricken over Stefan’s death. He swore that he would never have a thing to do with another De La Nuit for as long as he lived.
Farbanti Clan Garrick Farbanti was a giant mild mannered vampire by all outward appearances. He led his clan democratically but with a firm hand. The Farbanti were a protector clan. Many were protectors of other smaller clans. Most importantly the Farbanti protected the Freyan Clan. Garrick was in love with Aelis Freya. She however was too caught up in the good works of her clan though to really pay him any kind of special attention. In an effort to make her take notice of him, Garrick became her personal guard. A move that would be followed by many other Farbanti. Relationships between these two clans were only accepted because the Farbanti was a male clan and the Freya a female clan. However with the advent of the wars, these two clans were torn away from each other, as the men were exacuted by warrior clans, and the women ravished by others.
Freyan Clan Aelis Freya led this band of fierce vampiresses. They were a band of misfits, discarded by former sires and lovers. These women were sworn to protect human children of the night, namely runaways and prostitutes. Mostly they fed on pimps and other low lifes who would threaten the meak, mild, and innocent. They especially created painful deaths for men who harmed women. The Freyans worshipped the Goddess Diana among other Dieties that protected the innocent. Often they would offer their kills up to these Goddesses in tribute. The Freyans were protected by the Farbanti, and many of these vampires were also their lovers. However as the Clan Wars started and more and more Farbanti men were killed or imprisoned and tortured, the Freyan women became more and more easy prey. They were fed upon by many of the warrior clans and scattered across the world. Aelis was believed to have been killed by Chamber Hadick, herself in a ritual to capture the Freyan's powers.
Hadick Clan Headed by Chamber Hadick a fierce warrior princess who had killed her father, the former king while he slept and then drank his blood, this clan was another Fierce Warrior clan, dominated by Vampiresses. Named after Chamber’s seedy dealings with Hades, god of the dead, they thrived on killing only their kind of other tribes, drinking their blood before they died. Once a month, however, they were required to sacrifice a human virgin and a vampire no more than 3 days old to Hades to show their appreciation. This brought the dark god’s protection upon the clan. Many believe that with the advent of war, the clan was not able to keep up with their sacrifices, and that this was their downfall, not the Sisters’ plans.

The Legends that we use at BM are a mixture of many different legends all rolled into one. We take things that we already know and mix them with those things that we have seen on movies and television shows. For example, we take our Watchers Clan and make it basically what Joss Whedon would call a mix of Buffy and Giles. However not all of our watcher characters do actually slay vampires. Some instead choose to study vampires and their ways, as they are intrigued and use these studies in perhaps finding a way to someday end their reign of terror on the Earth.
We do not pretend to say that the way we do things here are BM is in any way correct, but they do work for our purposes. Our game takes place in present day LA, but we at BM are very much caught up in our own little worlds, or rather world of a subculture that might exist in LA, after all, who are we to assume it doesn't. Our RPG is what fantasy Sci-Fi movies are made of, and we enjoy ourselves, which is after all the point of an RPG. Some things we make up as we go. After all, when Adrienne and Thera came up with the concept of BM, another Play by E-mail Vampire RPG, we never in any of our wildest fantasies thought that BM would get this large. But it has, and we have been faced with questions we never dreamed needed answering. However we are working with what we have and what our members have done in the past in certain situations. Things that we at one time thought far fetched ideas are being accepted as the norm in the game and we have adjusted or written legends as the need for them has arisen. Soon, we will have these legends concerning Vampire Marriages, Blood Bonds and Pregnancy up on the page. But until then, please be patient with us.

Oh, yeah, one last thing. Time. For some reason Time in the game moves very slowly. One day can last a month or longer. We aren't sure what to do about this, but for some reason it seems to work for us. So many things have happened since the game began on December 30, 1998 and yet only a few days have passed. Yep, we live in soap opera land, it would seem. But again, it makes it easier for members to leave for a few days on summer vacation trips, etc, and still not be so far behind that they compeltely lose all track of what is happening and quit in exasperation. And we must be doing something right, for our members to want to expand on their characters. We have many new Family and Character pages popping up and in the works. Our 'sister site' power is unbelievable. And we love it, here at BM the best thing that could happen to us to affirm that we are doing something right, is just what is happening. We encourage you to visit out sisters sites. They are done by great members of the RPG and the time that they put into these sites is phenonmenal. They really are a treat.
