Tanais Di Nerezza is a strong and evil vampire. He is affiliated with the Di Nerezza clan, although his origins are not known he looks to be of Hispanic descent and about twenty-two years old. But because he is so respected and loved by the family, he has taken their name to show his gratitude.

He has a sweet and innocent face, with eyes that miss nothing. But do not let his naïve looks fool you. He is a calm and calculated killer. He has earned his membership in one of the deadliest clans in existence. He fought side by side with both Canio and Savio in the clan wars.

Tanais is Andreya Loraine’s sire. First he stalked her for years, and when he finally got her to trust him, he vamped her. They lived together for centuries, and he thought that he had found the vampiress with whom he would rule the dark nights. The fact that he’d had to “persuade” her to stay with him by threatening her meaningless mortal family had never meant much to him. Everyone needs a bit of coaxing once in a while. Needless to say, he was blinded by her and his lust for her and her companionship. Thus it came as quite a shock to him to find that Andreya had been plotting his demise, for some time. He is also the vampire responsible for deleting Serenity's mortal family from existence. The fact that he missed killing her, is something that he is not particularly happy about. Although his reasons are not now clear, he is very displeased to see Serenity undead/alive, and a Di Nerezza protected and loved by his friend Thera to boot.

The particulars of his banishment to the Other realm are sketchy, even to him. All that he knows is that he has been there for millions of years, and he wants revenge. But he is cunning and plans to bide his time until he can get this revenge. Due to Persephone’s little “body jumping” stunt, Thera had joined him just a little bit ago, and together, they were able to discover a way to return to their realm. Tanais and Thera had always been friends, and they were able to use each other for strength during their trying times in the Other realm. Even though they are close, and have always been, they have never been physical. Even before Thera had her Marc, their relationship remained as platonic as two close vampire friends could be. Tanais watches over Thera as though she were his little sister. He has looked out for her as he always has, and as he does for Daya and Sienna as well, especially in Savio’s absence.
