For some strange reason, there are ITEMS which we all seem to have in our possessions, although we never know why. I refer to things such as a BEST of Queen tape in the car, an open tin of baked BEANS in the fridge, and of course.. Lyles Golden Syrup® in the kitchen cupboards. Now, I am sure many of us use this item on a regular basis, I know i certainly used to.. and may be many of you never have used it, and never will, but have it in your possessions all the same. If you are one of the cursed few who have no such item.. rush down to your local Tesco's store and purchase one. I assure you it is worth the one pound and twenty nine pence.

Now, this item of foodstuffs is most intriguing.. For a start.. it is in a tin.. not unusual i suppose.. no. but the tin has no label.. The images are PRINTED onto the tin. This must cost a lot more to produce then printing a label which is stuck on. So surely the purchase price must REFLECT this? No, it doesn't.. Secondly.. there are no ingredients.. Fair enough, it does mention SUGAR several times.. but is that all it is made out of? I think not. For I have made a shocking discovery.. You see.. Lyles Golden syrup is in fact made out of LIONS. Not just ay old Lions, you understand.. no... Dead Lions...

How did I discover this awful fact? Well, the manufacturers are laughing in the collective faces of the public. You see, for years the awful truth has been right in front of our noses all along.. Look closely at the image printed on the tin. It's a lion.. Standing proud.. No, not standing.. look again.. it is in fact lying down.. It's eye's are shut.. It looks peaceful enough.. Can it really be dead? Of course it is. Why else are there flies flying around it??

An actual scan from a tin. Notice the dead Lion and the flies..
The main point you may see in the above picture - AFTER the dead lion and the flies, is the company motto "OUT OF THE STRONG CAME FORTH SWEETNESS" now we all know that LIONS are the king of the jungle, and as such represent the strongest creature's alive - and golden syrup is of course - fairly sweet - SO the statement TELLS us that they use dead lions to make sweet things - such as Golden Syrup. No further proof is required.

I have contacted Lyles directly on several occasions.. the following is a small diary of my action, and the results..

Date Action Result
2nd Wrote letter asking for confirmation of the use of dead lions. Never received a reply...
3rd Telephoned main factory. Was put on hold for 4 hours, before being cut off.
7th Wrote another letter. Received original letter back - marked "return to sender"
8th Re-sent original letter back - marked "Return to sendee" Never received a reply..
13th Telephoned factory again After being on hold for 5 and a half hours - was told it was a wrong number. I am sure i could hear Lions in the background..
17th Telephoned main offcies Was told Mr. Lyles was busy in a meeting.. I asked if he was busy killing lions, and was cut off.
23rd Wrote another letter RECEIVED a reply..
The following is a copy of the letter I was sent earlier this month, from Lyles..

"Dear Captain Stable.
Please stop contacting us in any way, shape, or form, with regard the use of dead lions in our manufacturing of Golden Syrup. Lyles as a company has NEVER used dead felines in any of their products, and hope they never will. If you continue to make contact with us, we shall be force to take drastic action.
Yours Faithfully, "

Well, after receiving this letter, i felt i had to continue my investigations.. They are clearly threatening me if i expose their ploy. This web site seems to be my only course of action left open to me, to show the world that they should boycott Lyles Golden syrup and say "We will not have dead lions in our cakes EVER again!"

Of course - the main question you should ask yourself when dealing with a revelation such as THIS is ... did the lion die of natural causes, or was it killed by Lyles??
