Vampire in Brooklyn

Hey, remember when Eddie Murphy was actually funny? Well good...because you won't get any fond flashbacks with this movie. Eddie Murphy wrote the movie as a horor/comedy, in which he plays a vampire from the Carribean trying to reunite with his vampire ueen who is a New York Cop. It sounds like it would be fairly decent...

The problem with this movie was not with Eddie. He was good for the role. The problme is that Wes Craven fell into the same trap as John Carpentr dod with Memoirs of an Invisible man. Good horror directors often make lousy comedy directors. Eddie keeps the movie moderately amusing, but its Wes's lousy direction that makes this film a downfall. This is a halfway decent movie to watch if you are pissed-=out bored one night, but does not rate high on my horror must see list. 1
