With the intense psycological component and success of the first one, its easy to see how any attempt at a sequel will be considered "overkill". That is why most horror fans dismiss this sequel entirely. In fact, it is an excellent movie and could stand by itself. (I am prepared for flames, as I know many do not agree.) The movie begins as a now older Regan is still disturbed by her posession (well, DUH). But is this "disturbance" all in her head? Or is she becoming posesed again? For a equel, I feel the movie was extraordinarily haunting (even as much as the first). Linda Blair was a tweak below what I've come to expect from her...but still, good nonetheless. The plot was reaching a little bit, however. I don't know. It held my interest. Rent it and make your own assumption.
