As if anyone couldn't see this review coming. This movie still remains in my mind as one of the best movies ever made. The special effects, while prevalent, are not what drives the movie. Much in the matter of the recent Blair Witch, the movie relies on intense psycologocal horror, and that is why it still works today.
Basically, the plot is that young Linda Blair (Regan) plays around with a Ouija board, and gets possessed by an evil spirit. There is an interesting subplot with a not-so perfect priest who is having his own difficulties when he is called upon to help the young Regan. The plot is simple which makes it disturbing and still remains as one of the most controversial movies ever made. You will not believe how good Linda Blair is in this movie.
