TALES FROM THE CRYPT COMICS FAQ

Here are the most common questions I am asked about the Tales From the Crypt Comic Books

Where can I get any of the EC Comics?

Some are rare, I must admit. But I have found many highly affordable (even with very early dates on them). You gotta remember. These aren't Marvel or DC Comics we're talking about. These people barely made a profit. And Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, The Haunt of Fear, are in hardcover books now and these are even better. The old comics are printed on really thin paper and wrinkles very easily.

What is The Crypt of Terror?

SuspenStories have been reprinted in hard back fashion. Trust It was the original title the Tales From The Crypt comic book. It was going to be an EC Comics series in the 70's, but censorship killed that idea.

Is The Tales of the Crypt Comic Books that The Cryptkeeper reads in the tv shows REAL Tales from the Crypt comic books?

You could bet your Heinz 57 they are.

What is the EC Fan Addicts?

It was the EC fan club in 1953. It lasted until the 70's.

Who drew the covers for The Vault of Horrors? They all look like they were drawn by the same person.

Johnny Craig. Despite rumors, yes he did in fact draw all of them.

I heard one of the animators from the original Tales From The Crypt also animated the series "Tales from the Cryptkeeper", the kids cartoon. Is there any truth to this?

Absolutely not.

Why did EC's horror comics Stop Being Produced?

Just like today, there is always people trying to ruin one thing for everything else. Now its movie censorship, back then it was comics. Comics were deemed to be the cause for the unruly youth in America. So action was taken. A Comics Code Authority was started, and unfortunately, none of EC's Horror Comics made the code. In 1954 five of the seven horror comic books were caused to end their run early (I beleive the only two that were left was Weird Fantasy and Weird Science), thus ending the reign of the Cryptkeeper...for the time anyway. 1
