BRIDES OF DRACULA

Brides of Dracula is a 1960 film with David Peel playing our Dracula's diciple, the Baron Meinster. Peter Cushing is excellent in the role of Van Hesling. This movie was kind of the unofficial sequal to Horror of Dracula with Christopher Lee and focused mainly on the now dead Count Dracula. The Baron Menister has a rather unruly mother who locks him in the cellar so he won't go around sucking all her neighbors. However, she feeds him herself by bringing him the occasional runaway girl. The movie progresses as she lads one too many women into the castle. One girl especially, Marianne finds the keys to his cuffs and releases. And Bedlam ensues. I thoroughly appreciate the creativity behind the movie, but David Peel seemed rather unconvincing to me. (I guess I'm kind of stuck on the dark haired vampires). His face wasn't sinister enough and I found that the movie lacked a lot due to this. However, it was decent. Certainly better then some Dracula movies I have seen, and is worth a checkout if you're really really bored. 1
