Had a lot to prove from the 97 tour with a lonesome last place. Another one who did not make 98 due to sheer embarrassment. Focused last year to win comfortably in the end. Another fantastic session as always.
Odds 2:1 JF
Honors: Winner 99'
Inaugural winner back in 97. Did not get a chance to defend this title due to women trouble. made a good effort last year but ended up blaming divots in the fairway for his loss, coming a close second. Always a good each way bet.
Odds 2:1 JF
Honors: Winner 97'
Runner Up 99'
Winner of the 98 tour and came third in 99. Going backwards but don't forget his 10 at the last in Dromoland. This put him the second group and the caliber of golf in this group did not do much for his confidence (especially playing with me!!) I think my money will be going on the Northern Lad this year.
Odds 4:1
Even money he sinks his putter into the fifth green after a missed 2 foot par!!!!
Honors: Winner 98' 3rd 99'
Has a good track record for consistency in this competition (except when Hootie are in town). He has the ability to go all the way in this competition, but needs to focus more on the golf and less on the Vodka and Red Bull. Just finished a winter tour in the US and will be just back from a week long European tour in the Costa Del Sol so he should be up for this. Another potential Winner. Watch out.
Odds: 5:1
Honors: Runner 97'.
The man with the plan. PJ seems to be more concerned about the competition going smoothly rather than competing for that Green Jacket. We all know that deep down he is putting the mockers on one and all to take home that Jacket. Always within a few strokes of the winner. This year I think we will PJ out of the blocks looking to get into that last group. If he makes that group, some players will be a bit concerned.
Odds: 6:1
Honors: 3rd 97'
Boom Boom is always one who will give it his all, just ask Billy!! Could have snatched it in 98 if it was not for Shields remarkable putting that year. (7 birdies in total) Did not show us that 300yd drive last year, more conservative than we usually see. Unstoppable when on form.
Odds: 8:1
Honors: Runner Up 98'
Had a good run in 98 coming 3rd (out of 4). Has the potential to get a top 3 finish again but needs to learn to use his driver. had a disastrous final round last year, which some say took Connor out of the running, seeing as his back was killing him. A bit of an outsider, but as he said if he does not win it he'll rob it.
Odds 10:1
Honors: 3rd 98'
Robert Collins also came through the ranks and was coached by none other than PJ. This explains his gritty determination and his slice, which has been sorted out. Also did very well last year, as he did not put any pressure on himself, the only pressure was put on Turbo to get back to that Jacuzzi and plunge pool as fast as possible.
Odds: 16:1
Came through the ranks to debut as a player in lasts years competition. Was John Carroll's understudy back in 97'.Accounted well for himself and also came in with two respectable scores. Could have worked out better if this competition was not Strokes but they are the rules. Has a downfall, and that is he is John Carrolls Vodka and Red Bull partner. May be his downfall, in more ways than one.
Odds 16:1
Made his debut last year and to all accounts played considerable well under all the pressure. had two respectable rounds of golf. Rumor has it that ray has been taking lessons from PJ so keep an eye on his handicap. Another outsider but with potential.
Odds: 15:1
