Maphore

aphore is known as the quiet kingdom, never garnering attention to herself, always existing at staus quo, just enough to make the people happy. Some of her landscape is striking, the Snake Forest lush, inhabited with all manner of wildlife.

The pleasant year round temperature makes Maphore a beautiful country to live in, entising many to retire there, a land where taxes run low as does the trouble.

Her main attraction is Ewcray, the Grand City of the South so it's called. The people are friendly and inviting, throwing two annual festivals, which draw people from many other countries. The Festival of the Hearth is held during the last week of Tarantoom marking the end of the grain season. The Snake Festival is the celebration of the Pikastaanian Elf new year, celebrated during the first week of Denod.

Jamestown is a rapidly growing town on the northern coast. Lord James was part of a group of heroes who, along with Dranthur Lionscrest, defeated an invading group of demons. His village is now quickly becomeing a hub of trade along the eastern sea board, with much of Maphore's famed lumber trade beginning to syphon through there.

Lord Barkley protects the villages in southern Maphore from Lowland Castle, located on the southern edge of the Head Forest.

Several villages of forest gnomes make their home in the Head Forest. The Sivettan Elf nation resides in the Eastern Forest, while buried deep beneath the Hearth Mountains lie the Fire Giants of old who contest space with groups of rock gnomes.

Lord Briant Moorly the Magnificent rules this peaceful yet diverse country. He is a powerful paladin, a holy knight of Furis, though he forces no specific religion upon his subjects. His policy for religious tolerence attracts as many to his country as the peaceful landscape. In Ewcray alone there are followers of Croyt, Luna, Ariel, Furis, Lugh, Hardshale, Freya and Realanna.

Maphore is most famous for its high quality lumber, used to make some of the finest woodworkings in the world. The most popular types are the red oak and wreched stonewood, though other more rare woods can be found here as well, such as abyssinian black maple and crooked bluewood.

Maphore's real wealth comes from the veins of gold running through the Hearth Mountains. The Fire Giants there are protective of their land, but are rarely seen by the shrewd human and rock gnome miners.

King Moorly takes his advise from two accomplished intellectuals, the great wizard Rethus and Maphore's high preist of Furis, Bartha. The two men are nearly inseperable, wholly more educated than need be, and are often accompanied by Bartha's page Patsy, a child genius. With the king at all times is his personal bodyguard Dullone, who's slow wit causes the king to ask him to stay in the background of most functions.

Three knights currently reside in the king's court: Sir Palin the Green, Sir Roundhouse and Sir Amazee Du Sport. They are collectively known as the Knights of Peace.

Prince Tartuu Moorly is arranged in marriage with Princess Shamur of East Stallshore. His mother, the queen, died some years ago of a rare disease. Also of note are Master Bard Lyric, Prime Minister of the People, one of the most known entertainers -- and stunningly excellent warriors -- in the Northlands, as well as the king's jester Clown, one of the few remaining master jesters of the modern age.
