The Games of Saberhaven
Quim vs. Kal

A heightened anticipation for the next combat has arisen over the last few days. The Archdruid known as Quim, who's been successful in his previous combats, has been pitted against a newcomer named Kal.
Two things set Kal aart form the "normal" contestants the Arena sees. first, he's a member of the man-cat races called Kizinni, a normally secluded race from the Great Jungles of Tokiwa-Dai, who gain great strength and physical prowess as they grow older, thoguh their life span is shorter than that of a thri-kreen.
The second, and perhaps even more exciting thing, is that Kal is sponsored by nonother than the former undefeated champion Val Urora, a weaponsmaster exrordinaire. Urora announced his officially sponsored entrant not days previous and appearantly the man himself trained and preped the Kizinni for the Arena.
Quim enteres the arena is his customary brown robes and leather armor, red hair flashing on the short man. Kal enters weilding a longer and shorter sword, bracers and winged boots on his feet.
Immediately on the announcemetn of the fight, the druid calls forth a huge stroke of lightnign from the low lying clouds in the Arena. The Kizinni advances quickly but cautiously and is caught of guard by the stroke of lightning. He recovers quickly, shaking off the effects and moving forward with a determined look in his eyes. The cat-man seems ferocious but in control.
Before the Kizinni warrior can reach him, Quim summons a great Wall of Thorns around his opponent. Trapped inside, Kal summons the magic of his ring to dispel the wall around him. Getting his bearings, he continues his advance, now very close.
Quim reacts by harnassing the winds themelves and creating a gale force which blows the Kizninni back to the edge of the Arena, slamming him into the doors.
Holding his opponent in this palce, Quim then hols forth his staff and summons another Wall of Thorns, trapping the cat-man against the wall with the only way out through the thorns. As Kal claws his way to the top - the shortest route out - Quim tries to entangle him in the growth, but kal slips away before he's caught up.
Now his turn finally, Kal flies directly at the druid at top speed. he swoops downa nd starts slicing up the nature priest with three blows to the body from his enchanted swords.        Frantic, Quim shapeshifts into the familiar eight legged badger. He seems to gain sone strength back from this, bu now Kal is right on top of him, pounding with his swords, once, twice, three times.
The badger strikes out with his bite, but Kal smacks him on the head and ends the consciousness of the druid shapeshifter.
