![]() The Games of Saberhaven Akira Axehammer vs. Woody
|
After reciting a brief prayer to the god of the forge, the dwarven
fighter Akira draws his battle axe and prepares to destroy his enemy. Today
he faces a wild elf, Woody, who is a devout follower of Mephistopholes. The
last fact leaves a foul taste in the mouth of the dwarf. Woody is best known as the elf who carried the broadsword and red iron chain mail of the Orcish god Ilneval, whom Woody's group fooled into a trap and captured him years ago. In return, Woody kept the god's powerful armor and sword, which have helped him defeat many a foe. The elf stabs with his quick off-hand sword, catching Akira by surprise and bleeding him slightly. Angered at missing the first strike, Akira swings hard, trying to take out the righ tarm holding the god-weapon. His enthusiasm becomes his downfalla s he overextends and stubles off balance, missing his mark. Woody, now overconfident that his opponent is weakened, give little effort in his right hand swoing, and misses. As the dwarf regains his balance, Woody catches him with a backhand swing. Magical energy sears through the dwarf's body. He screams but his natural resistances and his armor protect him from the deadly death magic. Feeling a new respect for his foe and the mighty weeapon he wields, Akira cautiosly attacks, again trying to disable to elf's right arm. Three blows he lands on the arm but fails to stop the elf from holding it. Woody seems not as apt with his deadly sword as the dwarf is with his axe. His first two swings fly wide. His third lands and again the magical energies of the artifact try and take the life of the dwarf. The stout fellow resists the death magicks, but with his full concentration on resisting, he takes a blow from the elf's short sword. Feeling that his attacks on Woody's arm are futile, Akira decides to just concentrate on felling the elf before his magical sword can suck his life out. Aiming for the elf's torso, Akira chops down with his axe. The dwarf dodges the elf's next swing, a swing that nearly pulls the sword right from Woody's hand and knocks him off balance to recover it. Akira jumps on the chance to chop the poor bastard again. Akira gains some confidence in his attacks and fiercely attacks the elf's torso again. he deftly dodges the shortsword swing and clobbers the elf with his battle axe. Woody returns his own blow with the terrible sword and once again, Akira feels the power of the sword trying to suck the life from him. He again manages to resist. Now more than ever, Akira realizes the danger he's in. He dodges another swing, then in an unexpected move, uppercuts with his axe into the troat of the elf. A terrible gash is opened, surely a fatal wound if left long enough. Spawned on by his successful swing, he bashes aside another feeble sword blow and lands another axe hit on the dying elf. Akira moves in for the kill with a twisted grin on his face. He pulls back and swings up at the elf's chest, trying to finish him off. He dodges the elf's counter attack and cracks Woody right in the ribs, taken out the weakened elf and winning his first round.
