![]() The Games of Saberhaven Gunnar Overdark vs. Tamar
|
Gunnar and Tamar enter the arena to the cheers of the crowds.
The mul, covered in tattoos, stands at the ready, with no
weapon in hand, but several at the ready. Tamar, ever
impressive, strides quickly in, his spiked-banded, chain mail
glistening moistly in the sun. He has a bow nocked and ready.
The signal to begin sounds, and Tamar's bow twangs. The arrow streaks toward Gunnar's face, but Gunnar's left hand snatches the arrow from the air, scant inches from the mul's face. In response, the mul stares at the human, and suddenly, Gunnar rocks back as if hit. The crowd is surprised by Tamar's lack of action, but obvious effect. Tamar, grinning at the ineffectivness of his foe, drops his bow, draws his two handed sword, and charges across the field at an incredible rate. As he arrives, his sword descends and crushes into the, now cursing, mul, even though the mul was not precisely where he appeared to be. The mul quickly draws his longsword in defence, and swings at Tamar. Missing horribly, Tamar presses his advantage and sweeps his sword around in a devestating side swipe. Gunnar winces as the sword cleaves through his magical defences, only to be deflected by the actual skin of the mul himself. Blessing his maker, Gunnar returns the strike with another of his own. This one skims near Tamar's neck, but instead only slices into the shoulder of the human. Tamar's scream becomes a snarl of rage as his two handed sword is pulled high overhead and crushes down on the mul. Blood is running freely from both combatants. Gunnar, although still quite concious, does not swing his longsword around to continue the trade of attacks. Instead, he concentrates, and the girdle at Tamar's waist glows and pulses. The magic inherent in the girdle however, prevents it from flying apart. In retaliation for almost losing his girdle, Tamar, once again, crushes Gunnar with this sword. Gunnar appears near death. Before Tamar can finish him off, Gunnar disappears, hand raised before him to ward off any more blows. Tamar, listening very carefully can not seemm to locate the mul. In preparation for the mul's return, Tamar puts his back against the wall of the arena. Almost a minute later, Gunnar appears next to Tamar. Gunnar's sword is already in motion as he appears, and it swings in a great side arc. The next sound the crowd hears is the clang of sword on stone as Gunnar's blade passes through Tamar's neck and strikes the wall behind the anti-paladin. That sound is followed quickly in succession by the sound of Tamar's body striking the ground, followed by his head striking the ground, followed by the crowd going wild with Gunnar's victory. Gunnar raises his sword in a salute and walks out of the arena.
