The Games of Saberhaven
Rraakkor vs. Ashrem Zekar

The crowd, already riled up by the day's activities, gives a great cheer as the next competitors are announced. At the north end is Ashrem Zekar, a human bounty hunter well known both in and outside the arena. He waves his sward and dagger, garnering the crowd's applause with his handsome looks and fearsome reputation.
From the other door, with a great leap, arrives Rraakkor, one of Romus Todd's gladiators, a scarred and muscled lion-man from the deserts. Rraakkor gives a great roar and brandishes his shortswords menacingly. Rraakkor's twin shortswords are known and feared in the arena, and he is expected to win this fight by a wide margin.
As the announcements finish, both competitors stride toward the center of the arena, slowing and circling as they approach melee range. Rraakkor prances confidently, a distinct contrast to Zekar's wary steps. Unexpectedly, the bounty hunter leaps forth in an attack, hoping to take the wemic off-guard. The rush fails, though, as the gladiator's twin shortswords flash out to cut Zekar, once on the left forearm, and once across his scalp. Despite the blows, the human reaches out with his dagger to stab the wemic - but stumbles in his attack and falls off balance, barely catching himself. The wemic takes the opportunity to claw at the human with his forepaws, landing both attacks on the bounty hunter's unarmored right knee and shin. It appears that the wemic is taking no chances on being caught off-balance himself, and is thus restricting his claw attacks to low targets of opportunity. Rraakkor's shortswords lash out again, striking Zekar both times in his left flank.
The bounty hunter is barely on his feet now, blood flowing freely all over his body, limbs and head. He tries to bring his sword and dagger up to shield his face as the wemic rains two more strikes on him, but his arms are too weak and slow, and the twin blades nearly rip off his scalp - and part of his skull - as the human falls to the ground, dead.
As the medics rush out to the scene, Rraakkor roars once more in victory, and leaps high into the air before turning and trotting out of the arena.
