![]() The Games of Saberhaven Falcor vs. Jerin Xalvix yi Et'rius
|
Feeling the rush of adrenalin as he steps into the Arena, Jerin readies himself by preparing the Bolt of Stone spell so that when the signal is given, he needs to merely speak the final word and the bolt will fire. He steps into the arena and sees his opponent Falcor the Winged Folk step into the arena with bow drawn and arrow nocked. The signal is given and Jerin waves his hand over a polished piece of marble and points at Falcor, muttering the final arcane sylables. The bolt of stone flies across the arena passing the arrow fired by Falcor. The bolt of stone grazes the Winged Folk as his arrow flies wide off , strikeing the wall and then glancing harmlessly off the wall of force protecting the audience. Falcor, after fumbling his shot at the start signal tries desparatly to get his arrow back on his bow string. As he is winging forward to take his next shot, he pulls back too far and again, tangles his arrow in his bow for the rest of the round. Jerin, seeing his opportunity, quickly casts Darklight's Stapling Spikes to pin the Winged Folk to the ground. The spikes of force stream toward the befuddled Falcor only to disappear after 10 yards of flight. Falcor, breathing a sigh of relief, frees his bow as both combatants ready themselves for the next round. Jerin curses himself for wasting a great opportunity to stop this fight in its tracks. Sweat pours from his brow as he tries to decide what to do next. On the far side of the arena, Falcor breathes deeply and pulls back on the bowstring. He seems to drown out the noise of the crowd as, finally, his third arrow of the day flies true to mark biting deeply into Jerin. Jerin tries to make himself a harder target now that he can't collect his thoughts to cast, but that doesn't help him as 2 more arrows in quick succession fly towards him and strike true. Jerin, after having taken several arrow shots bringing him near death decides to cast a much more deadly spell. He begin's casting Whisper's Acidic Destruction. While he is casting, Falcor continues forward, walking now. As he approaches, he lets loose another arrow...that arrow strikes the moment the spell finishes. Jerin is brought closer to oblivion, but remains concious to see the effect of his acidic destruction spell. A cone of acid over 360' feet long streams out from the fighter-mage and engulfs Falcor. When the stream clears, Falcor seems completly uneffected by the acid. Neither he, nor any of his items seem to have been touched by the caustic substance. A short blessing to the gods of the winged folk escapes Falcor's lips as he shoots again. This arrow is the last thing Jerin sees as he slips into unconciousness.
