![]() The Games of Saberhaven The Warlord vs. Laereth
|
The crowd remains relatively quiet as both Laereth and the Warlord
are introduced. The fans of the games just don't seem to be too
excited to see the same competitors of such a previously boring match. The signal sounds, and once again, before Laereth can react, the Warlord disappears from view. The crowd begins to boo and throw food at the replay of the last time. The asimaar reaches out with both halves of his mind, and contacts each half of the Warlord. As each half of Laereth's mind is contacting the Warlord, the other half is walking Laereth toward the Warlord's starting point. Before Laereth can even begin to start running across the arena he notices the telltale sign of dust being kicked up leading to a point a mere 10 feet from his current position. As Laereth begins to run away to stay out of range, he reaches out with his mind, and convinces the Warlord that his next hit will kill the Asimaar. That moment happens seconds before the Warlord appears, swords coming down in two devastating arcs. Laereth screams in pain as both longswords slice into his body. At that point however, the Warlord stops, and raises his hands to the crowd in a victory pose. He takes no notice of Laereth at all, almost as if he believe Laereth lay dead at his feet. The Warlord's arms are raised in victory! The crowd is cheering... just not for the Warlord. Laereth maneuvers behind the Warlord about 30 feet and stares at the Warlord mentally attacking with both halves of his mind. Laereth tries, but he is unable to pit the Warlord's Id against his Superego. He is, however, able to make the Warlord believe that the next time the Warlord is hit, it will be a fatal blow. The Warlord, shocked by this sudden attack and the disappearance of his fallen foe, spins around to see where his enemy went. He raises his sword toward Laereth and you can see him thinking. In his split second reading of the Warlord's face, Laereth can see it turn from cautious to aggressive in the blink of an eye. The Warlord moves across the 30 feet before Laereth can react, and the familiar arc of the two longsword descends upon the asimaar. Both swords cleave into Laereth's body at the same time. The Warlord sees the dead body of Laereth in front of him, and stops attacking again, but this time, Laereth is actually dead.
