The Games of Saberhaven
Lord Blix vs. Ebrecus
His opponent is the always feared Duke of Hell on Earth, Lord Blix, who some feel may be one of the few who can stop Ebrecus from winning it all.
The two are arnnounced. Lord Blix steps out with any fanfare, then immediately turns invisible. Ebrecus has his bow drawn as he steps forth and fires just as Blix turns invisible. The arrow streaks across the Arena and amazingly clips the assassin, taking a "chink" on a stoneskin.
Ebrecus charges Blix's last position. He moves as swiftly as he can. Suddenly, a pit appears in the path he's runnning on. The gladiator jumps and rolls to avoid falling in, barely managing to stay on his feet and sidestep the pit.
The gladiator looks about then retreats to the wall of the Arena, not sure where his opponent may be, trying to take solace with his back protected. Ebrecus can feel the impact of multiple magical attacks firing into his psionic barrier, none effecting him. None getting through.
The crowd quickly grows tired of the fight. One invisible fighter slings unseen magical powers at another fighter who stands doing nothing with his back to a wall.
More pits open up, 20 yards out from the psi-fighter. A moat surrounds him at that range, but still no Blix visible.
Finally, feeling weak from the time he's spent maintianing his powers, Ebrecus puts his hands up and signals to the judges his submission. Upon the announcement, Blix appears, but the crowd jeers incessantly, chanting derogatories at the two competitors for the forgettable fight.
Blix seems unamused, but satisfied with his win that will boost him into the Champions' Rounds. Ebrecus seems just happy to be alive, not too concerned about the results.
