The Games of Saberhaven
|
One of the more amusing contestants in the Summer Tournament is Blecke, the kobold fighter who's the personal attendant to the Half-Dragon Prince Kroobor. The short, dog-faced warrior has proven time and again he deserves to be among the elite of the Arena fighters. Now he stands in front of his geratest challenge, the deadly thri-kreen gladiator slave Chek'tu. The kreen loses few battles and is known for his wicked number of attacks and the damage he can deal in such a short time. Having studied his opponent, Blecke steps into the Arena with his axe of throwing and hurls the thing at the kreen. A faint glow surrounds him, possibly the shidling fire protection from his leige. The axe flies across the battle field as surely as the kreen tosses ten stone throwing wedges back at the kobold form his side of the field. The axe finds home and draws the stickly liquid passing for blood in the mantisoids. Four of the wedges also find their homes, but "chink" off the stone-like skin of the kobold warrior. Pulling four hand blades called impalers, Chek'tu rushes forth leaping nearly 50 feet at a time, cloding the gap on the kobold. Blecke stands for a second then dislodges a black colored bead from his multi-colored necklace and hurls it at the oncoming thri-kreen. The bead hits dead center on the kreen, consuming him in a black flash and taking his life from him. The crowd is a bit chocked at the easy fight then a few boos are heard form those expecting a much more inense barrage of blows. Blecke makes no facial expression and leaves the Arena floor.
