The Games of Saberhaven
|
The next bizarre match-up of the summer tournement pits the wholly evil minotaur Sitel, devout follower of Mephistopholes, against the decievingly small Tak'Nak'Raq, a wild-bred halfling psioncist. Sitel chrges the doors, speedily and almosy nearly knocking them from their hinges as he charges his opponent, longsword drawn. Tak', in opposition, tips his head to the minotaur, then focuses his mental energy and floats into the air. Sitel continues his charge. Smiling wryly at his opponents primal tactics, Tak' continues to rise, until he is 45 feet in the air, at which point he holds one of his hands to the sun, mumbling an incantation, pointing at the Minotaur. Sitel stops before he's completely under the halfling. he looks perterbed, checks both longswords then seems to become a bit bothered by his bracers, itching at them. Calmly pulling out his shortbow, Tak' notches an arrow and fires twice, his arrows streaking towards the minatour. The first misses but the second hits the man-bull, angering him further. "Come down and fight like a man," he growls. The minotaur thinks a second then launches his left handed sword into the air, the blade flying wide of the halfling. The bracers continue to heat, slightly singling the skin around Sitel's wrists. "And you fight like a man?" Tak' says with an amused grin on his face, "you are nothing but a demonic half-breed, evil beyond compare. I am not of mankind and will destroy you in the way I know best." With that, Tak' notches another arrow and calmly proceeds to fire again at the Minatour. He strikes with two shots. Meanwhile the heated bracers are searing the minotaur's wrists. He growls loudly in pain and takes the armbands off, throwing them to the ground. Tak' knows that things are going well - his opponent is wounded and almost impotent. Letting the levitation drop 20 feet - until the halfling is only 20 feet above the ground - the halfling reaches into his mind gathers his energies to increase his speed. Sitel look sup at the halflng, even madder than before and runs to grab his sword. Tak' reaches for more arrows - firing off three in quick succession at the enraged bull-man, the last two striking the minotaur. Grabbing his sword, Sitel lets it fly again at the closer-than-last-time halfling. The sword flies straight at Tak' and the halfling doesn't pull another arrow but instead reaches out with his hand to grab the projectile. He misjudges the blade and it slices into his arm, drawing blood for the first time in the fight form the small combatant. Tak' changes strategy again - putting away his bow and drawing his two shortswords. The halfling reaches into his mind to pummel the Minotaur with his mental energies. Sitel is frozen in place, the mental strain of his attacked too much for him. The halfling drops to the ground, meanwhile pulling hsi short swords to engage in melee. He hits the stunned minotaur four times with his sword and dagger before the man-bull comes out of his stupor. Tak' smiles grimly, knowing his job is almost done, and the Minataur is both severly wounded, and without his magical bracers to protect him from further attacks. Attacking with his blades in a blinding swirl, Tak' hammers away at Sitel, seeking to finish him quickly. Tak' jabs with both sword and slices a vein with his dagger. Sitel swings his remaining sword, but it's blocked to the side with the quick dagger redirecting the blow. Howling, Sitel dodges two sword blows and smashes two of his own into the halfling. Now reeling, the halfing barely manages to poke the man-bull as he takes another shot. Sitel stands reeling as well, the two warriors both near the breaking point. Tak', being the nimble fellow he is, jumps forth and jams his speedy shortsword into the thigh of the minotaur. The intense ain is too much, and Sitel falls uncosncious. The crowd cheers at the small victor, who is now moving on to the next round.
