The Games of Saberhaven
Archie vs. King Kovak Kopper

Ah yes, there's nothing like a good racial enemies fight to pack in the crowds. The stands are full this afternoon for a fight between a member of dwarven nobility and an elvish treehugger. This looks to be a loud fight as both the elves and dwarves are here in force filling the stands and they are thoroughly riled up. There have already been several disturbances in the stands that required guardsmen's attention. The crowd has been warned to settle down and the city guards are on standby with spells and swords.
The elf in today's bout is an archer of unparalleled skill. One could say that Archie is the best archer that has ever walked the face of any world and few would contest that statement, save maybe the equally well known elven archer Orellwyn, companion of the fabled Val Urora. Let's just say that he rarely uses the blades that he carries. Rarely does he need them.
Facing this lean elven archer is the King of the Snow Dwarves. King Kopper is the stocky, muscular image of what people think all dwarven heroes look like. He carries the hereditary weapon that comes with the throne and wears the armor of his ancestors. His huge axe has been known to leap across the Arena and rend his opponents limb from limb.
The huge crowd leaps to it's feet at the announcement of the two mighty warriors. The Kold King enters, moving unnaturally quickly towards his opponent, axe whirling above his head. Archie flies in on his winged boots, obviously employing a mirror image spell that has him flying among a crowd of elven archer lookalikes, each with two arrows knocked on their deadly bows. He lets those two shafts fly and they both strike the onrushing dwarven king, succeeding in slightly slowing his charge for only a brief moment.
The axe of the Kold King unerringly seeks out the correct Archie and bites deeply into the elf. The elf is suprised at his opponent's speed but he still acts, leaping back a few feet and firing several more shots, dropping the last one due to a bit of bad luck. The crowd is going absolutely crazy with the flurry of activity below them.
The two warriors trade blows as dwarven axe and elven bow both deliver strikes on their enemies. The elf flies straight up to separate himself from the unerring aim of the dwarven king. While the dwarves in the crowd boo and taunt the elf for his tactical retreat, he fires again and strikes King Kopper again. The Dwarflord judges the distance to the elf, rears back and sends the huge axe spinning up at Archie, it strikes and whirls back to the King's hands.
The deafening roar of the excited elves and dwarves raises curious heads all over Saberhaven. It's one of the loudest fights the citizens have heard yet in the history of the Arena. No doubt people will be talking of this fight for many days to come.
After a brief lull in the action where even the combatants notice the noise, another flurry of precise arrow shots and strongly hurled axes ensues. The elf hits twice and so does the King. Each titanic blow draws blood from the warriors, whom to all eyes are definitely hurt and slowing due to injury. The teetering elf draws back one more time, fires, and brings the King of the Snow Dwarves crashing to the ground. The elves go wild with victory yells while the stunned dwarves sit quietly.
While the injured elf flies to the ground and the king lies bleeding, things get ugly up in the stands. A few shocked snow dwarves react rather strongly to the loss by attacking elves near them. In seconds the stands are a screaming, brawling melee. The judges are now the stunned ones, who watch as the guards spend nearly half an hour separating dwarf from elf and bringing peace back to the stands. Several areas of the stands are Veiled by the mages.
Few notice the displeased looks on both of the competitor's faces as they leave the Arena to the rampaging masses.
