BRIEF HISTORY

The Shadow King seems to be a psychic entity that possess a body and bow it to its will. It's a first class telepath whose power matchs the one of Xavier. In fact, it was the Shadow King who made Xavier decide to make the X Men for the first time : as he was traveling by El Cairo, and after a short encounter with a very young Storm, Xavier was struck by an evil presence, leading him to a bar. There was Amahl El Farouk, chief of crime in the city by the moment. Xavier inmediatly recognized the powerful telepath inside the man (it's unknown if that was the first body of the Shadow King, but past appearances haven't been seen yet) and accepted his mental invitation to a combat in the psychic plane. There, Xavier almost lost, but managed to defeat the man, being his body destroyed in the physical plane. Where he jumped then, is still unknown, but Xavier, learning of the existance of evil mutants for the first time, decided to create a group of good mutants to protect the world.

Next time the entity was seen, it had addopted a body similar to Xavier's and was destroying the universe of the micronauts (See X Men vs Micronauts limited series), who believing him to be Xavier, sent some warriors to defeat him, but after learning their mistake, acceptedthe offer of the X Men to join forces. Once again the Shadow King had been defeated, but he escaped again, possessing this time the body of one of the new mutants, Karma. As Karma, it took control of the Circus of the Gladiators (where Guido and Dazzler had worked -see Beauty and the Beast limited series-) and deforming her body with fat. Needless to say that he was defeated as usual, dissapearing for a while, but leaving Xi'An with a serious problem of overweight.

Next appearance was in El Cairo, Illinois, were a kid Storm was stealing as she once did in Egypt. It possessed the body of the agent Jacob Reisz and put under its influence doctor Lian Shen and the owners of the mansion it was residing in, turning them into human hounds. Its target was Storm,in a new try to hurt Xavier, but she got rescued by another thief, Gambit. It then decided to take under its control the personnel of Muir Island, including Moira Mc Taggert, Legion, Daytripper, Polaris, and Brigadier Stuart, as well as half the X Men when they came in rescue, facing them with the other half.

For a last time, Xavier fought him in the psychic plane, loosing again his walking capacity, but when he was about to lose, Forge broke the nexus between the Shadow King and its victims, using a sinaptic trigger on Psylocke and her psychic knife on Polaris at the same time. This time, the Shadow King is believed to be dead, but ...
