Mechanical ideas & experiences

I've got links here to things that I think are important or interesting about keeping your VW alive and well. I've been doing my own work on my cars since 1996 after "the alternator incident" (you don't want to know) and they are my only transportation so despite my relatively short period in the hobby I have quite a bit of experience. I have even rebuilt the engine in the old '74, which has taken me between Georgia and Cleveland (750 miles each way) four times. It feels good knowing the engine you put together is what is getting you where you need to go -- you know exactly what went into it. Anyway, enough of my rambling, here's the links!

Spare parts and you -- a rambling description of the "why's" of keeping spare parts in your car, and a bit on driving the Volkswagen as primary transportation.

More to come if I ever get my bus and my tools back...got a couple projects waiting.
