Digital Art

Sometimes I get carried away when screwing around with image files, and I wind up creating a work of art :-) Click on any picture to enlarge it.

-- Eva 01 with lightning and blue glow in motion: Creative title eh? For this image, I took a stock picture of Eva 01 from the series Neon Genesis Evangelion and removed the background. Next, I superimposed it on a picture of some lightning that I found on the internet. After that I messed around with the individual layers to make the final product. I still have not been able to replicate the blue glow, I'm not sure how I did that.

-- Pain: In this work I tried to capture the character Rei Ayanami, Eva 00 pilot from Neon Genesis Evangelion. To me, she was always lonely and misunderstood, as well as being used by Commander Ikari. Seemingly emotionless, during the series the viewer is treated to a few rare glimpses into Rei's mind, revealing her tumultuous emotional state. I singled out the frustration and pain that she felt and tried to express it graphically.

-- Green: While probably the least impressive, this one took a lot of work! First I had to modify the graphic of the alien, editing out the background and introducing lens flares into its eyes. I also added a blue tint to the eyes. Next I worked with the background image to remove the spacecraft that was imposed on it, and changed the color balance of both images so that they were green. Finally, paste the alien into the image and adjust the transparency to create the final product.

-- Mother's Scout: The thing being spoken of in my writing "Mother's Scout" is the Voyager spacecraft, which carries on it a golden record designed to be interpreted by alien intelligence if it is ever found. To me, this is the most interesting part of the spacecraft, notwithstanding the enormous scientific value of the data returned by the spacecraft itself. I used an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of NGC 1850, a globular cluster, as the background, and painstakingly edited the best of a very select few voyager spacecraft images to obtain the image of the spacecraft itself. This was followed by a great deal of editing that I honestly don't remember all too well. Out of all the images, this one took the longest to complete.

-- One: This image, while simple, reflects the same experimental vein as the writings that it adorns. I just tried to magnify the emotion of loneliness in the image. Editing was fun for this one, and I think I wound up with a pretty professional result.

-- License for a Bichon: Just for fun, something I whipped up some months back. Yes, I am aware of the fact that I have too much spare time on occasion! ;-) Take a look at the stats...the address is censored out, but I had changed it from the original (my address) to the actual residence of the depicted canine. Do you like the paw prints?? I guess I'm proud of my handiwork :-) All that "void" crap is to keep people from making fake IDs with the image.
