"Mariah Carey definately has a better voice than Celine.I'd like to see Celine go 7octaves."

"Mariah will never be as successful as Celine Dion. Look at her international status."

"Celine is a way better and more talented singer than Mariah. Celine is more subtle and calmer. Her music and her voice calms you and allows you to relax. Mariah always seems to be whining about a relationship. Where Celine has a more broder aspect on the music industry."

Adrian Del'rooney (Regarding octave ranges for both singers)
"During Mariah Carey's debut there were tons of articles about her "legendary vocal range", and those articles reported a range of 4 octaves. Somehow along the way as Mariah acquired more fans I believe the overzealous ones claimed her voice could strike 7 octaves. Celine Dion on the other hand has always been reported as 5 octaves although I have seen references to 8. I believe they both have approximately the same range if you consider their highest notes and lowest notes - as Red Nax said, Fly's and Emotions, and low notes on countless other songs, you will notice their ranges should be about 5 each. However do note that Mariah pens her own songs and it's much easier in her case to factor in some octaval jumps to demonstrate her singing capability. Meanwhile Celine is stuck with this group of songwriters who are just solely devoted to easy-listening melodic pop without special accomodation for range except the consideration that Celine can probably tackle any note. Power and range - they both have it, and amply too. The only significant difference their voices have that are open to discussion is quality. Mariah's is husky, while Celine's notes are pristine and bell-like. As a result Mariah sounds like she is tackling a greater range because her vocal quality changes more with the octaves. Celine sounds more powerful because of the purity of her vocal quality, but her greater octaval leaps are ignored because the notes all sound so effortless and unchanged of in quality. The offset is that her voice sounds more like an instrument than a human, vulnerable voice so critics blast her for being unemotive."
