ALCHEMY
Jennifer Morgan taught Akela some limited alchemical techniques. These primarily allow her to identify substances given the proper equipment (equivalent to a chemist's lab, but with some esoteric additions). Additionally she knows how to make three alchemical substances: glowstones, orichalum and an herbal healing potion.
Akela is a competent alchemist, but has to research most things other than the three she has experience with if she wanted to make anything with this skill. In general, however, her skill with Alchemy is equal to the Flash's more broad skill in science.
ANIMAL LORE
From personal experience, planned instruction and simply listening to the adults talking about animals Akela has learned a lot about animals and how to work with them.
She knows about a wide range of animals including most modern mammals, birds and reptiles as well as many "prehistoric" mammals and dinosaurs. This knowledge allows her to understand their habits and, to some degree, predict their behavior under most circumstances.
Additionally, she is experienced in dealing with animals. She is a skilled horseman and knows how to work with dogs and other hunting animals.
Akela's ability to ride animals is better than Warlord's with horses even (due to more experience); She is actually about on par with Ra's Al Ghul in that field of training. Her general level of knowledge about animals and dinosaurs is on par with that of Jennifer Morgan, the younger girl simply has a broader knowledge base at the same level. In the area of understanding how to deal with animals, Akela is in the same category as Batman and Robin, being slightly better than either the Warlord or Nightwing.
ATLANTIS LORE
Jennifer Morgan taught Akela as much as she knew about Atlantis. This includes everything she could remember about the myths about the place from Earth and a lot of the history of Atlanteans in Skartaris. It does not include any information about the cities of Atlantis found in Earth's oceans, as Jennifer was unaware of them at the time, if she even is at this time.
Although her general level of understanding things arcane is slightly below theirs, Akela's knowledge of Atlantis is on a level with Aquaman and Nightwing - just slanted towards her sources instead of theirs.
BRAWLING
Growing up in a warrior tribe and being trained as a protector does not just mean defending the tribe from without, but also from within. Fights that break out between members of the tribe are handled by protectors and so they are required to be able to fight without killing. The most effective way to do this is to wade into a brawl and break it up physically.
Akela has received training that is analogous to boxing with a bit of wrestling and jujitsu techniques mixed in. She is capable of holding her own against Batgirl and Killer Croc one on one or three to four people of average skill (Like Deimos or Poison Ivy). Additionally, she is better at avoiding blows in hand to hand combat than Batgirl, being about as skilled as the Hundress or Wildcat.
DANCING
Dancing is used by Akela's tribe as an means of entertainment, courtship rituals, exercise and persona enjoyment. Akela enjoys dancing, not for the style (which she can do), but for the rhythm and grace of the movements. She is quite capable of learning new dances with only a little amount of time to go over the moves and then practice them.
Akela's dancing ability is as artistically skilled as Superman's writing ability and Batman's ability to do criminal sketches. She is not only good, but she can grab the attention of the audience and keep it when she wants to.
HUNTING
Akela is a trained hunter. She knows how to identify and track animals by their tracks, spoor and other markers they might leave behind. She knows how to lay both lethal and non-lethal traps to catch prey for various reasons and how to navigate based on landmarks in various terrains.
Her navigation ability is on par with Robin's and Deathstroke's, but limited to visual navigation with landmarks instead of any use of instrumentation (with the exception of a compass, perhaps). She can track as well as Robin and the Warlord and her trap making skills good enough for most animals and people (especially those inexperience with traps) to miss them.
LANGUAGES
Akela knows the common tongue of Skartaris and the language of the Kaimi (a dialect of Atlantian that is mutually understandable with the language spoken in the oceans of Earth). She is completely fluent in both languages, but it should be noted that due to her lack of technological knowledge her understanding of Atlantian will not include the ability to converse such concepts, although she could learn the words easily.
Read +tr/te Akela/magical necklace for additional language information.
LEADERSHIP
Akela has some experience as a leader. Her experiences focus mainly on small groups and combat situations. In those areas she is well skilled and this skill does bleed over to other forms of interaction.
Akela is, in general, as good a leader as Jennifer Morgan, Lucius Fox or Leslie Thompkins. In the case of commanding small unit maneuvers, she is as good as Alfred, Flash I (Jay Garrick) or Poison Ivy.
MEDICINE
Part of Akela's survival training includes primitive medical knowledge. She knows how to bind wounds, set broken bones and both identify diseases and parasitic infections and treat such things using herbs and other techniques.
Akela's ability to perform first aid is equal to that of Aquaman or Lois Lane while her background in herbalism makes her as competent as Nightwing and Robin in similar medical matters.
MELEE WEAPONS
Besides her swordsmanship (see Swordsmanship Skill trait), Akela is skilled with a variety of melee weapons. She is highly skilled with daggers, and has some experience with clubs and staves of various sizes and styles. She is also practiced with axes and polearms like pikes and halberds. She is even familiar with whips. She is quite competent in using and maintaining these weapons without hurting herself or others unintentionally.
Her ability to avoid blows in melee combat is noticeably lower than Batman's, about on par with the Hundress. Akela's skill is comparable to Catwoman's skill with her claws and Talia's with swords. The one exception to this is her sword fighting skill (see Swordsmanship Skill).
MISSILE WEAPONS
Both as a protector and as a hunter, Akela was taught the use of bows and crossbows. She is a very competent marksman with both kinds of weapons and is able to accurately and precisely hit her targets. While her training does not really cover firearms, should she ever be shown how to use a gun and given a chance to practice with them, the basic principles will come to her easily because of the fundamental similarities in aiming and striking a target.
Akela is as competent an archer as either the Huntress (who outshines her with crossbows however as much as Arrowette outclasses her with the bow) or Ra's Al Ghul and has more experience with these kinds of weapons than the Warlord or Batman.
PLANT LORE
From personal experience, planned instruction and by simply listening to the adults around her as she grew up, Akela has learned alot about plants. She can identify most poisonous plants as well as countless ones that are beneficial as dietary aids or medicinal purposes. Because of the similarity of the flora of Earth and Skartaris, this knowledge carries over from one world to the other.
Akela's level of knowledge about animals is on par with that of Jennifer Morgan, the younger girl simply has a broader knowledge base at the same level. Poison Ivy has, of course, a staggering advantage over Akela in this field of expertise.
STEALTH
Akela knows how to move without being heard and how to use her environment to avoid being seen. This skill was originally learned in the wilderness, but she is also familiar with using these skills in urban environments.
Akela is as capable at hiding and moving quietly as Batgirl and, in general, as Bane (although Bane has more experience keeping people from seeing him. She cannot hold a candle, however, to either Batman or Nightwing.
SURVIVAL
As a scout in a medieval society, Akela has received both training and real-world experience in surviving in a number of environments, including deserts, forests and mountains. She knows how to locate food and water in these environments, swim and locating shelter and other needs.
Akela's experiences surviving in the wilderness has made her as good a swimmer as Ra's Al Ghul or Talia and as good at meeting her survival needs as Jennifer Morgan and Talia. Notables who are slightly better at surviving than her are the Warlord, Aquaman and Nightwing.
SWORDSMANSHIP
Akela's weapon of choice is the sword, specifically her two, matched Atlantean rune swords. She has trained with swords for most of her life and is among the best swordswomen from Skartaris and is quite capable of making a name for herself on Earth, given the opportunity.
Akela is as good with swords as Catwoman is with whips and both Brutale and Victor Zsasz are with knives. She can mop the floor with people like Deimos and the Penguin in a duel, however.
TEACHING
Akela has had opportunity to teach. She is not very good at it but she is able to impart her knowledge to others in a fashion that allows them to learn from her.
For ease of comparison, it should be noted that Akela is as good a teacher as Black Canary is a gardener and Martha Kent is a cook.
THROWING
Akela has been trained in the proper techniques for using thrown weapons and has experience throwing rocks and other objects as well. She knows how to pick a target and be able to reliably hit it with accuracy and precision. While she is a competent thrower in general, she has specialized in the use of her "throwing crosses" (shuriken-like throwing blades).
With her throwing crosses, Akela is as skilled a thrower as Nightwing or Hawkman are in general while her general ability allows her to match the performances of Batgirl or the Warlord.
TWO WEAPON FIGHTING
Akela has mastered the use of two melee weapons at a time. Usually this is her two rune swords being used at the same time, but she can use a sword and dagger or two daggers as well at equal degree of skill. With other combinations she is not quite as skilled, but she is still quite competent.
Using her chosen combination of weapons does not alter her skill level in melee at all. However, when using other weapons in combination people who would normally be evenly matched gain a slight advantage over her (although by dropping to a single weapon she would be able to offset this disadvantage).
