Personal Background
During the fall of Atlantis, an Atlantean fleet was was lead by General Rugero to Skartaris though the dimensional gateway at the north pole of Earth. In that dimension of sorcerers and swordsmen, populated by such creatures as dwarves, goblins, elves and dinosaurs, the Atlantean people continued to progress along the lines of their previous civilization until war broke out among their cities and their culture was destroyed in a blaze of atomic fireballs.
Those that survived lived on first solely as barbarians and finally redeveloped to the cultural level of medieval Earth, restoring balance to their world. Among these developing cultures were still barbaric tribes, some of which were populated either partially or fully by Atlantean descendants. The Kaimi (or The Seekers) tribe of nomadic warriors was one such group where no member could not find an Atlantean ancestor if they were bothered to look.
It was to this tribe that Akelathara was born, daughter of the chief's second wife, a short time after he ascended to the chieftaincy after his mother's death. At birth her grandfather, the tribe's primary sorcerer, gifted her with a necklace which had been her grandmother's (who she was named for) which could be used as a magical light source and translate languages for the wearer.
Even as a young child Akela was a beauty, so much so that her father nearly doubled the tribe's wealth by accepting gifts from men from all over Skartaris who simply wanted him to consider them as a prospective suitor for her when she mattured. Because of this she was pampered some what, meaning that she had fewer chores than normal for a girl of her age group, which provided her more time than most girls to engage in weapon play.
While women were not prohibited by the tribe from becoming warriors, it was discouraged as often as possible. However, it became apparent to Akela's father that this would not work for her so, after she broke a third practice sword he ordered her to undergo formal training, along side the boys of her size. She quickly outstripped them and had to be put in training with larger boys, of an age with her but alreay showing hints of budding adolescence.
She rose to the challenge, learning to use both her natural charms and her skill with the blade to defeat the young warriors of the tribe. Her weapons skill, while it put off some potential suitors, increased the flow of funds from those who wanted a wife with spirit and the ability to defend herself so her father hushed his wives concerns about Akela, particularly when he showed them that it did not hurt his many sons or daughters in anyway to have a warrior-girl in the family: indeed most of her sisters took to trying to be as proper as Akela was not.
Unfortunately, Akela's father's tactics with her ended up coming back to get him. When a young man feels he is ready he is allowed to challenge the leader of the group he wants to join (hunters, the chieften's guards, etc.) in order to join the group he wishes to instead of the one that the chieftan will assign him if he looses (sometimes the same, not always). In such a challenge it is not expected that the youth win, simply impressing the leader is sufficient.
Akela shocked the tribe by challenging the leader of the tribal protectors for membership in the group that defended the tribe, be it by hunting down a rogue dinosaur or by leading the defence against raiders. While she did not win her challenge, she nearly did once before the man began to take her seriously, and he ended up having to cut her to finish the fight - giving her a wound she refused magical healing for that has left a six inch long scar above her right collar bone.
The man had little else to do but to accept her as a member of the Tribal Protectors. She immediately dove into further training, working towards a time where she could be a scout, leaving the safety of the tribe to look for dangers and either stopping them, if possible alone, or returning for aid from the tribe. Shortly after earning that right, on one such scouting trip, Akela would make a discovery that would change her life.
While scouting, Akela found some ruins on the coast near the Isle of Titans. Exploring them she found ancient Atlantean writings warning away savages and interlopers. Then a large man in metal armor that covered him completely approached and ordered her to halt, she did so and tried to talk to him, trying to find out who he was and what he was doing. His responce was to shoot her with a magical ray that knocked her unconscious.
She woke for a moment to a strange dream in which she was laying on a cold white slab. During that brief period of consciousness she looked around, seeing little above her or around her but a bright light except for a slab, that appeared similar to her own, with nothing less than herself staring at her from it. She heard her other self tell her to remain relaxed and then she lost consciousness again.
When she came too she saw the metal clad man. She asked him what was happening and he told her "the standard protocols had been followed" and then his head fell, causing his chin to hit his chest. At the same moment all the lights went out and Akela was plunged into darkness. She nearly panicked as she looked for a way out of the pitch black tunnels she was in. When she finally found her way to a lit area it took a while for her to calm down.
She found herself in similar tunnels, lit by the same cold light she had seen when she came to and saw herself although it was flickering in and out as she stood there. There were two doors, both open. Through one streamed warm, natural sunlight and though the other she could see a cache of weapons. She quickly went into the chamber, using her glowstone to see clearly despite the flickering lights. Many of the weapons there were blocky crossbow-like things without the crossed bow, some of the weapons went translucent in the light of the glowstone showing them to be illusionary. However, there were a matching pair of short swords that caught her eyes as she noticed the doors beginning to slide shut. She grabbed the swords and ran out of the chamber towards the outside.
The swords felt perfect in her hands, but she soon began noticing other changes and didn't about where they came from for a long time. She noticed that her reactions were faster and she was possessed of greater strength and stamina than before her adventure in the cold white tunnels. Returning home she found that she was now the best warrior of the tribe and she was (after a short time) made chief protector.
Shortly after being made chief protector Akela renewed a friendship with Keahi, one of the best hunters of the tribe; they fell in love and after two score turnings of the moon they married. Shortly there after she gave birth to a son (named Kano) and then, when their son was running around after the hunters, she gave birth to a little girl (named Lani). Although Akela had begun noticing it sooner, it was when she weaned her daughter that people began to comment on how well preserved she was, especially for a woman who has had two children.
She realized that what ever was done to her in the cold, bright place that made her physically better also made her stop aging. When her father died, her older brother became chief and he began showing signs of jealously towards Akela. In order to protect her husband and children Akela left the tribe. She took to defending the tribe from the distance.
Akela was able to watch from a distance as her son reached adulthood, when her husband died from a wound he received during a hunting accident she was unable to prevent and when her brother died childless and her son took over leadership of the tribe. During this period she discovered that she actually was aging still, just very slowly, and that her swords were magical Atlantean rune swords.
After many, many moons she began hearing tales about a man from another world, fighting injustice, and his dauthger who was becoming a powerful sorceress working for the cause of goodness. Because her tribe was thriving and, in fact had split into a number of tribes united under a common banner, she left them to find the woman named Jennifer Morgan.
During her search she found two abandoned mines in the Blood Rock Mountains. Both had been abandoned as spent, but she found that she could, using her great strength, get gold ore out of one and rough diamonds out of the other. She kept the knowledge of these mines to herself, making them her private source of wealth.
After a long search, Akela finally found Jennifer Morgan in Shambollah the Golden. There she became a member of her personal guard and quickly rose to a position of leadership. Akela also formed a friendship wiht the young sorceress and after a while, once Jennifer had earned Akela's full trust, the pair began sharing stories about their lives. Hearing about so many wonderous and almost incomprehensible things, Akela was struck by the desire to see the world her friend came from.
Jennifer began to teach Akela some arcane skills, specifically alchemical processes, but in general she was not terribly interrested in that. What did interrest her was the history of her blood line, the Atlantean people, and Jennifer taught her what she could. It was during this period of instruction that they identified Akela's swords as being Atlantean in origin.
She spent a time training a replacement as the head of Jennifer's guards and then approached her friend with her desire. Jennifer immediately released Akela and helped equipped her with magic items that would help her. Armed with her swords and a suit of leather armor that she had designed and Jennifer had enchanged, and equipped with her necklace, throwing crosses, a ring that allowed her to carry an entire wardrobe with her extradimensionally and an amulet that she can use to call Jennifer Morgan from anywhere in the multiverse and speak with her, Akela left her friend and world to explore a new one.

"Lost" Atlantean Base Background
The following information is not known to Akela at this time, except where the information mirrors information in the previous traits. This information should not be played as being known by anyone who has not recieved it in character in a staff run scene. (Editor: This includes me though, note. *smile*)
Sometime around 50,000BC on Earth, Atlantis was attacked by aliens that had been lead to Earth by their own exploration craft. A fleet of ships, lead by General Rugero, was lead to Skartaris for safety and they quickly established themselves their, complete with their advanced magic and technology.
Over a few lifetimes they established a number of city-states that ended up going to war between themselves, leading to a nuclear exchange that drove them to barbarism. However, at the beginning of the war, a number of groups established military bases in which to research weapons in order to attempt to get the upper hand in the conflict. One such base was the underground installation near the Shadow Forest, on the western side of the Daga River, an installation which would be found thousands of lifetimes later by Akela.
This installation was manned by soldiers and scientists as well as a host of technomagical automatons that were nearly sentient creations that were halfway between animated constructs (or golems) and true robots. The city that built the base had, as its goal, the creation of warriors as tough and durrable as robots, but with living souls and the ability to make life and death decisions on their own. When the bombs began to drop the base was hit and all the human inhabitants died. The automatons rebuilt and completed the project, coming up with a technomagical cloning and enhancing process, but with nobody to use it on they then went into a power save mode.
Even in power save mode however, there is power loss. Over tens of thousands of years this adds up. The base was about to loose all power when it was awoken by the presence of an Atlantean woman. Quickly the automatons brought the process into play and cloned her then transfered her mind (copied at the beginning and bearing the memories of the person) and soul (shifted over at the end, bringing the person's own unique driving spirit into the clone) into the new body. When the process ended, the base had twenty minutes of operating power remaining and it slowly died around Akela.
