Melissa's Journal

1 April 1998

April Fool's Day. What a day to begin something new.

Welcome to the newest section of my web page: my online journal. I've thought of having one before, and I guess what really got me to finally do it is Josh's semi-regular updates of his life on his page...so here's me giving him credit. Thanks, honey.

I started this odd new diet today. It lasts two weeks and you cut all the carbohydrates out of your body. It's working really well for several people in my office...I'll confess to being very skeptical at first. I checked with my doctor, though, and he says it's viable...the theory is that since your body burns carb energy first, if you cut carbs out, your body has no choice but to burn fat energy. Makes sense, right? The reason I was skeptical is because of the food you can eat! Any meat in any portion size. Cheese. Eggs. Butter. Just no fruit, no bread, no pasta, and very few vegetables...mushrooms, asparagus, lettuce are okay...you can only have sugar free Jello but you can put whipped cream on it. Hello??? We'll see. I'll keep you posted. :-)

I'm going to see Midsummer Night's Dream at the Arden tonight...I haven't seen it staged in years. I'm looking forward to it. I'm trying to see all the Shakespeare I can, prepping for Hamlet...in fact, I'm also seeing Much Ado About Nothing this weekend at BAM, thanks to Matt! More tomorrow on this..

I agreed to AD "How to Succeed" for the Center a few days ago. It will be interesting to revisit it since I "starred" in it six years ago, but I'm afraid I will spend the whole summer "babysitting". Last year's Birdie cast was a wee uncontrollable. If a lot of the show choir kids do it, it will be much better.

Josh went to London today. For many weeks. I'm sad. I know he's going to have a marvelous time with Anthony and I know I don't see him all that often, but we speak pretty frequently and darn it, I just like knowing he's in the same country. I know it's going to be wonderful for them. I love London.

I suppose that's all for today. It's my first day, so give me some leeway. :-) My computer at home is down and I'm pretty pissed about it...I sat down last night to write with pen and paper (welcome to the Dark Ages!) and nothing would come out. Maybe it's a mental block. Maybe I'm just using up too much of my creativity on fan fiction. Did write half a chapter on that untitled book, though, last week. That's something.

Sign my guestbook or email me if you're reading this. I'm not doing it for entertainment, but it's nice to know if people are checking it out.
