A Day in A Lifetime

The sun is descending in the western horizon.
Fading away as it gives into the dark.
My day is growing shorter
As I reflect on what I have done.

My morning was so bright and sweet--
I played and frolicked in the glistening dew;
The fields were full of discovery--
The wonder I had as my knowledge grew.

The mid-day brought me questions and decisions.
What should I do with the afternoon?
Should I share my time with a partner?
Bitter quandaries I found myself in.

I worked in the orchard this afternoon--
My partner smiling as I labored.
Sharing the time through trial and error--
Enjoying the fruit we had bear.

Late afternoon had brought me rest
Joy and pleasure came to my partner and me.
Our fruit reaped us rewards--
Satisfaction is complete.

Dusk has come to escort me
My destination is clear.
My day has ceased to exist,
I seek my fortune amongst the heavens.
