Silver's Alter

Poems of Love and Victory

Of Cheese and Blood

As I wander the depths of someone else's mind,
These Smells come to me;
Foreign Smells that I had yet to experience.

I Smell morality, yet cannot tell:
Is it the Smells of pure and wholesome goodness,
or the Smells of the darkest corners of evil?

My nostrils flare with intense thought.
From where the Smells come I also cannot tell;
They may be from a far and distant place,
or Smells I have just noticed about my person.

My nostrils suck in the new experience with delight,
the lofty Smells caressing them.
Then, as though the Smells seeped into my
brain, turning it 'round so it could see,

I realize that these Smells are of life itself,
it's beauties and wonders, as well as its ugliness and horror.
For these are the Smells of Cheese and Blood.
