BILADOC
How many coffins are there? Are they open or closed?
DM
They are closed. There are twelve of them in total. They also have dwarven
writing on them.
GRUMACH
Grumach glances around. "So, do we disturb the rest of whomever is in these, or
do we move on and try not to disturb anything? Perhaps this calls for
another Augury session."
CARYNTH
Carynth peers closely at the dwarven writing, then shrugs. "We haven't
rested enough for me to get an augury spell again, but I still have bless.
Perhaps I should save that, thou, and we should just open one to see what's
inside? That's what I'm voting for."
BILADOC
I turn to Ulath and Saggar:
'Can you read what's written in the coffins? Do you have any idea
where we are now? An old dwarven fortress, perhaps?...'
I take a closer look at the coffins, trying to spot any traps attached to
them. As I do so, I say to the party:
'Do you really want to open these coffins? What's the point? Why not
let them rest in peace?'
Anyhow, I'll tap slightly on the coffins, to see if any of them
sounds hollow.
DM
You see no traps. As Biladoc taps on them they of course all sound hollow.
SAGGAR
I look at the shield and see if I can make anything out of it.
Try to read the writing on the coffins after looking at the shield.
DM
There are 14 coffins in total.
HUMPHREY
I think we should leave the dead at peace with their possessions.
SAGGAR
"We should not disturb the rest of these ancient ones" Saggar speaks in a
deep, somber tone
GRUMACH
Grumach shrugs. "Yes. I was concerned about the ghasts, and that perhaps
this burial sight has something to do with them. But either way, it's
probably best to leave them be."
KINSON
Kinson says: "It may be a rather liberal position for a man in my profession,
but I've always felt that the dead don't need worldly possessions, so I
wouldn't consider it defilement to look in the coffins, as long as care is taken
to not disturb the bodies too much. However, our leader has spoken again, and I
respect his wishes."
He moves down the hall to where it curves north, there he waits for the rest of the party.
DM
The outside of the coffins are examined as well as the dwarven shield that
was found. Kinson and Humphrey wait for the others to get ready to move on.
Saggar encourages that the Coffins be left alone while Biladoc examines them
by tapping on them. Carynth seems interested in opening one just to take a
look inside. Grumach stands observing the others and ready to move along.
Meanwhile Ulath seems overwhelmed and just stands there staring.
BILADOC
I move next to the knights, saying to Humphrey:
'If at anytime you want me to move ahead and scout, just say so. I
was trying to see if any of the coffins sounded hollow. They could
hide some door or passage. But as they all sounded the same, I guess
there isn't any passage there.'
HUMPHREY
Humphrey looking around. "Let's move out. Biladoc go ahead and scout
ahead. Keep us in sight or at least don't take the next corner until
we have taken the previous. We want to be able to come to your aide
should you need it."
Once Biladoc is ahead Humphrey will start the group forward.
KINSON
Kinson takes his position in the marching order and moves down the hall after
Biladoc.
DM
You all move forward to where the hall turns North. It goes thirty feet
north and turns east. There is a statue of a large dwarf in the hall ahead.
You also note small scrapes on the floor where you stand as well as splotches
of dried brown matter.
KINSON
Does this dwarf look familiar to Kinson?
"Humphrey, do you remember Polaris? He was a dwarf that turned into a statue, and the `Lady
in White' was keeping him for us. This could also just be someone that was stoned by an evil
creature, we should be very wary."
Kinson inspects the brown splotches, can he tell what they are? Does it appear that the
scrapes were caused by moving the statue?
"Perhaps there is a secret door behind the statue?"
DM
The Dwarf does not look like Polaris. The scrapes are some distance away and
do not head towards the statue. The brown spots could be dried blood.
HUMPHREY
DM: Does the statue have the look as if someone posed for it or does
have a look that it was in the midst of a battle?
Humphrey looks to Biladoc. "Anything you can tell from the scrapes?"
DM
Looks like someone posed for it.

OOC:
The scrapes, do they head into one of the walls (as in secret door)?
You all stand in the hall with the statue of the dwarf ahead. Do you all just
stand there or will you discuss what you each have discovered with each
other?
Carynth hasn't discovered much of anything. She's been nixed on
disturbing the dead, which she thinks might have been interesting (just
kidding here, folks), and waits with the patience of a worshipper to move
on. =)
"This stature likely holds little or no significance. It is a decoration
for this burial site. I would present the guess that we now walk in the
catacombs of a dwarven family. That one there," he points to the statue,
"is likely the patriarch. These," he points to the small tombs, "would be
family members. If we're in the catacombs, and we keep moving up, we will
likely hit the house above the catacombs, and form there we can find
civilization."
Kinson observes that the brown splotches look like blood. "The dead don't
bleed, so something living, and bleeding was here. But Grumach is probably
right, this is most likely a family crypt, with their estate above us. Who
knows the blood might just be from a poll bearer for one of those coffins back
there."
After several minutes Biladoc does not find any secret doors near the
scrapes. Biladoc begin heading towards the statue.
Saggar carefully examines the statue to see what he can make out from it.
Saggar moves forward to investigate the statue as well.
As Biladoc and Saggar approach the statue a large booming voice rings out
from the statue as its stone lips move. "Disturb not the rest of those who
served Bereg Whitehelm, or the axes of the dwarves will seek you out...and
fall upon you!" The statue appears to be made of granite and depicts a stern
faced dwarf in plate armor with axe raised high as if t bar passage. The
statue is chipped from apparent blows on it. There is no inscription on the
statue.
I take a step back and look at the ceiling, saying to the others:
'These marks on the floor may have been made from those axes he's
talking about. Do you see anything up there, Grumach? You're closer
to the ceiling then any of us ;-). If the axes are not up there,
ready to fall on us, maybe he's talking about the 14 dwarfs in those
coffins back there. If so, it's 15 against 7.'
I look at Ulath's dog:
'Sorry Flint, I meant 8.'
I turn to Humphrey:
'I found no doors or passages. From those blows on the statue, I
think it may come to life if we try to pass it. Do you want to try
and talk this "decoration" into letting us through to the outside?
Maybe Ulath or Saggar can help you with that.'
Grumach will peer into the ceiling. "I don't think that statue would throw
a fit if we tried to pass. The blows on it may be nothing more than jumpy
explorers, or perhaps it animates if someone tries to open the tomes. I
think I'll try walking past it, if it doesn't want people to go past it;
well, I can run fastest out of this group." Grumach doesn't begin walking
yet, though, but waits for some feedback first.
Looking at the ceiling you see what could be the bottom of a pit trap
mechanism. The scratches probably made from falling objects or people. You
do not think this pit trap could be opened from this "bottom" side.
Carynth looks a little green. "Well, thanks, everyone, for not listening
to my idea. I think we'd be fighting stone and undead right now if we
had. I think talking to it's a good idea - better than using a sword,
anyway!."
Grumach drops into a defensive posture at the noise, but then relaxes.
"See, decoration only. I say we proceed. Humphrey?"
Let's proceed then.
Humphrey leads the way out.
Kinson says, "Watch for blades coming down from the ceiling. Those scrapes might
be from some sort of trap that protects this crypt." Then he takes his place
in the marching order and follows Humphrey. "So, what are we going to do if we
get out? I doubt the city guards have forgotten us -- assuming we are still in
the same city. Some of stick out like sore thumbs (he glances at his plate-mail,
now dinged in a few places). Perhaps we should simple locate a good place to
rest, and then go back in."
Grumach, looks over his shoulder at Kinson. "Hmm...sore thumb, eh? You
know, we're going to have to deal with those guards sometime, and I don't
think fleeing back into the catacombs is ever going to fix our reputation.
It might get us dead, which means we won't have to worry about it...
Perhaps if we speak with the lord of the land we can work out a deal. We
do him a favor, and he clears our name."
Saggar grins "Aye and they wish me for sure. Yet I fear we are not at the
same place as there would be no dwarven tombs there. I also fear that it
should be safe to pass the statue as long as we do not defile the tombs"
Carynth's face finally brightens, as she stops worriedly regarding the
statue. "That's a good idea, Grumach! I say we try it! Of course, it
may require some more fighting to get past his guards...." she thumbs her
scimitar blade thoughtfully.
Humphrey leads the way down the ten foot hall. Everyone carefully walks past
the statue of the dwarven warrior. However nothing happens as you do so. The
Hall goes twenty feet East and opens into a room. The room expands twenty feet
north and twenty feet south. It is forty feet deep. No other obvious exits
exist in this room. The room has a 60 foot high ceiling and a floor that is
polished mirror smooth. In the center of the eastern wall the floor climbs
three steps (2 feet) to a raised dais. On the dais is an alter and a
tapestry depicting a magnificent winged white dragon rearing up menacingly.
The tapestry is 30 foot square and finely worked, and seems to be perfectly
preserved. The altar is made of stone and has no decorations except that
either end swoops up to form large arms that become candlesticks. There are
two large thick white candles in these strange candleholders.
So this room has no exits other than the one we came through?
"Anyone want to go light the candles and see if anything happens? I can't
imagine that those candles were just left here for no reason..."
Is there much dust here? Does it look like this room is used much? The
tapestry, does it look like it has been stained from smoke (from the
candles, or torches, etc.).
"Maybe there's a way to contact whoever built this room. Wonder if there's
anything behind the tapestry?"
The room seems unused for quite some time. There is dust and some webs.
Humphrey goes and looks behind the tapestry.
The tapestry is held up by a large metal bar that is hooked on two metal
hooks coming out of the stone wall. behind the tapestry is what appears to be
solid wall. Humphrey disappears behind it searching for a door or any other
clues. Everyone else can see his bulge behind the tapestry moving as he goes
along the wall.
OOC:
Before we start moving around, can I see any footprints in the dust?
Do the candles look used (melted wax, burned)?
BIC:
I say to Grumach:
'Better to wait and look around first. Can anyone identify what
deity is worshiped here?'
I'll take a look around the walls and the altar, looking for any
doors or traces of former visitors.
You see no prints in the dust. Biladoc begins examining the walls and altar. (Where will you start good
hobbit?)
I'll search the north wall of the chamber for passages. After that
I'll examine the altar, looking for inscriptions and/or objects.
I'll say to the party:
'Do you think we could take that tapestry down and take with us? It
may worth some gold pieces.'
You see no other secret doors on the North wall or the altar.
Kinson concentrates on this place, trying to detect evil. He specifically wants
to know if this temple was used for evil purposes. He will focus on the altar
mostly.
If he can tell that this temple was used for evil purposes, then he will
desecrate the altar by pouring holy water over it, and cursing it with a prayer
to his own deity.
"Anyone want to go light the candles and see if anything happens? I can't
imagine that those candles were just left here for no reason..."
Ulath will use his religion NW proficiency to "look" at the small Temple!
What does he "see"?
Grumach (designated torch bearer) will walk up to the dais, and light the
candles. Then, being careful to hold his torch away from the tapestry, he
will pull the tapestry back and look behind it.
As Grumach lights the second candle a section of wall opens behind he
alter. That would be the east wall. Twenty feet from the north end. A passage
leads into darkness there.
Saggar checks the altar and examines the tapestry closely before moving over
to the passage that has opened .
You do not detect evil in the altar or this temple. However, you feel evil
from the secret hallway that just opened on the east wall.
Kinson says: "I do no believe this temple was used for evil purposes, whatever we do here we
should do with respect for its rightful users. However, there is definitely evil down the
passage way that has opened. We should investigate."
Grumach will walk over to the opening, torch in hand. He will walk right up
to it, but won't enter the passageway proper.
The actual opening to this new hallway is behind the tapestry. I assume that
Saggar, Humphrey, and Grumach can now see down the hallway as Grumach holds a
torch up to see.
At first you are startled as you see someone down the hall. You quickly
recognize that it is a mirror reflecting your own images. The mirror sits in
the eastern end of the hallway just before its end. It is made of silver
squares and sits in a large stone block footing. The hall itself extends
thirty feet east and is ten feet wide. Twenty feet down the hall on the south
wall another hall goes south.
Humphrey hearing the Sir Kinson tell about the evil in the hallway,
"Ok, Let's check out the hallway. Sir Kinson, you and I enter first."
Do you proceed first? Please state actions clearly when you do something so
that I know who is doing what. This is just a statement but in the past some
players have not posted their actions having me assume they follow along.
Kinson draws his sword and walks beside Humphrey down the hallway.
Grumach shudders. "There are legends told by my people, of mirrors made by
bitter gods. Mirrors where if you were to gaze at your reflection, it would
attack you."
Kinson smiles at Grumach, "Just be glad you don't have to spit shine it." Then he looks down
at his ever dirtier armor.
Kinson and Humphrey being moving forward. They reach the intersection and look
to their left. They see that the hall runs twenty feet and ends in a plain
stone wall. At this point is a large stone coffin. It is covered with dwarven
runes. The coffin lid is partially slid open. On top of the lid is a fancy
coffer.
Ulath will try a small experience!
He will hold his mirror making it face the other mirror!
Nothing unusual happens when you do this.
"Kinson is the evil you detected coming from the coffin?"
Kinson concentrates on the coffin and the coffer. Can he tell if the evil of this place
emanates from one of them?
No, the entire area here has a residual evil feel.
Ulath will say:
Please don't touch anything till I read those runes!
I move into the hall, take a look at the mirror and look at the
coffin. I say to the others:
'Do you think that's the coffin the statue told us not to disturb?'
I'll then move back to the mirror, trying to see if I can take out
any of the silver squares.
OOC:
How big are the squares? Can I take them out?
The silver squares are one foot by one foot. Looks like you may be able to
remove them with some expert work. Of which of course you are most skilled.
Since the others are so busy studying the coffin and the coffer, I'll
start to remove the silver squares from the mirror, slowly as not to
damage them.
Biladoc begins to remove the Silver squares from the mirror. He uses his
daggers to begin prying at the silver panes. Ulath moves forward and can now
see the coffer is in the shape of a curled white dragon. A peace of tattered
silk tangles from the dragon's mouth. He now sees the runes on the coffin
more clearly, He begins to read, "Bereg Whitehelm, Lord of..."
Suddenly Biladoc Screams a blood-curdling scream. From behind the mirror has
stepped the translucent figure of a dwarf. His eyes blaze a brilliant red,
With axe held high he swings his almost invisible axe at Biladoc. Biladoc
almost turns white as the axe hits him leaving blacked skin
behind. "DIIIIIIEEEEE!" The ghostly specter yells.
You just lost 2 energy levels and 3 hit points on top of it. Ohhh this thing
is nasty.
I'll tumble back to the altar room, saying at the same time:
'Get back to the large room. There we have more room to fight him all
at the same time.'
I'll throw some daggers at the see-through dwarf as soon as I get a
chance, being careful not to let him approach me.
A combat turn is due by Thursday morning my time. Please include your current
hit points THAC0 and AC in the turn. I have Biladoc at the silver mirror.
Kinson and Ulath close to the coffin. The rest at the entrance to the tunnel
as best as I can remember. Please correct me.
Darn!..... Shi.....! One of those specials! I hate the special Turn Table!
Anyway Ulath has a powerful 17 Thac0 +1 Dam, Ac 3 and 37Hp
We will say: Retreat! Retreat! , while desperately will try to read what he can this turn on
the coffin! ( he can not say retreat retreat and Turn Undead but can say retreat and Read!)
OOC: Note, those players who did not respond I will assume they just stand
there. Please respond with your next round of actions by Tuesday morning.
BIC:
Biladoc Tumbles backwards away from his attacker and into the main room. He
slams into Saggar who is still looking down the hallway. He falls and
recovers his feet as quickly as he can. He seems tired as he manages to let
loose a dagger that sails through the air and goes right through the ghostly
dwarf.
Carynth backs up into the main later room. She chants as she moves into
it past Saggar who remains in the doorway. Everyone has a warm feeling cover
their bodies as she finishes her chanting.
Grumach backs into the center of the room preparing his chain for combat. He
waits ready to spring into action. Kinson and Humphrey both attack the Specter
in the small confined hallway as everyone else backs into the main room where
there is room for everyone to fight. Kinson misses the creature as it moves
against him. Humphrey has one blade cleanly miss and the other passes right
through the undead abomination.
Ulath meanwhile leans towards the stone coffin and reads the runes on it as
quickly as possible.
The Creature swings at Kinson but misses him. Saggar still stands in the
hallway and Kinson and Humphrey have engaged the beast in the hallway. The two
warriors are having a hard time pressing the attack in this confined place.
Ulath is still in the side hallway reading the runes on the coffin.
ACTIONS please include THAC0's et... if you can with your actions.
Saggar backs into the main room as he conjures a spiritual hammer to attack
the specter with.
I say to Grumach:
'Aim for the axe. We can't hit him but maybe we can disarm him. And
stay away from that axe. That small cut almost got me down.'
I yell to those still inside , as I move close to the passage, hiding just outside the
entrance, waiting for the dwarf to come out: 'Get out of there quick. I'll put out the
candles. Maybe that will keep him trapped inside.' I'll take out my mace and my magic dagger.
If I get a chance to backstab the dwarf, I'll do so. But only if I don't come close to that
axe.
Grumach will do as Biladoc recommends, and try to disarm the dwarf when the
dwarf enters combat range.
Carynth waits for the next round to see what will happen.
Ulath will now try to get out of the axe and of that room.
Saggar backs into the main room as he conjures a spiritual hammer to attack
the specter with.
Biladoc says to Grumach:
'Aim for the axe. We can't hit him but maybe we can disarm him. And
stay away from that axe. That small cut almost got me down.'
I yell to those still inside , as I move close to the passage, hiding just
outside the entrance, waiting for the dwarf to come out:
'Get out of there quick. I'll put out the candles. Maybe that will
keep him trapped inside.'
I'll take out my mace and my magic dagger. If I get a chance to
backstab the dwarf, I'll do so. But only if I don't come close to
that axe.
Grumach will do as Biladoc recommends, and try to disarm the dwarf when the
dwarf enters combat range.
Carynth waits for the next round to see what will happen.
Kinson will fallback (defensively walk backwards -- parrying if attacked)
into the main temple area. If the specter follows, into the temple he will
attempt to turn undead. He'll draw his holy symbol (hanging on a cord around
his neck) hold it up to the specter and say "I command you, evil creature, to
return to your place of rest."
Ulath will now try to get out of the axe and of that room. (What does this
mean?)
Kinson falls back into the room, Grumach and Biladoc wait to attack the
Specter. Humphrey however continues attacking the specter in the hallway ( I
did not get a response from him). Saggar casts Spiritual Hammer in the room.
After his chanting a ghostly hammer appears and rushes to the aid of Humphrey.
Ulath is doing something with an axe(his message confuses me???? Please
clarify and I will let that action occur plus the next rounds). Carynth
waits with the rest in the main temple alter room. Humphrey's sword swings
miss the quick undead dwarf. The dwarf dances with skill and quickness. Then
the dwarf specter strikes. Hitting Humphrey of 8 hit points of damage plus
draining 2 energy levels and the corresponding hit points that go with it.
The Transparent hammer that rushes forward swings at the Specter with
incredible speed. Missing the first time but then striking the specter and
hitting it slightly.
ACTIONS FOR THE NEXT ROUND> PLEASE RESPOND OF I WILL JUST FIGURE YOU CONTINUE WITH YOUR PREVIOUOS ACTION. I waited almost a week. I do not know if
Humphrey's message got lost but I never got it.
Saggar continues to wield the spiritual hammer against the specter.
Carynth murmurs to Biladoc, "Maybe those candles are a good idea. Need
any help?"
After reaching the bigger room where the fight is on Ulath will:
1) If Ulath feels that he his to low on his god's favor (level), to turn such
powerful Undead, he will recommend to everybody to retreat while Saggar's hammer lasts, and
if anybody has the same spell, to use it!
Or:
2) If he doesn't know or feel that he is not powerful enough, than he will put forward his
Holly Symbol and try to Turn Undead.
Humphrey backs up swinging his glowing short sword in wide arcs attempting to
cut the specter with his enchanted blade. Humphrey lands a mighty blow that
causes the specter to stumble and almost fall. Saggar concentrates on his
ghostly hammer as it strikes at the specter without mercy. Saggar's hammer is
not as successful as Humphrey's sword and misses as the specter steps to the
side. As the specter enters the room Grumach attempts to disarm it. However
his chain goes right though the axe. The only change is that his chain is
covered with frost now.
Carynth murmurs to Biladoc, "Maybe those candles are a good idea. Need
any help?"
Ulath holds up his holy symbol forcefully after entering the large chambers
and yells for the specter to go back to the place of shadow. The Specter
laughs at him.
Biladoc leaps upon the altar and extinguishes both candles . He sees the
specter entering the room as the secret door begins to close. Kinson moves
forward to attack as well. He is careful taking a defensive stance(Since I
did not hear otherwise).
The Specter moves with inhuman speed it skirts around Humphrey and grabs
Kinson by the throat. Its shadowy axe raised high. (Kinson just took 6 hit
points of damage plus lost 2 energy levels and the hit points that go with
them.)
ACTIONS FOLKS
Carynth strikes a torch and heads into the fray to hit the frosty little
gnome with the fire. (So good to finally have an idea....)
Saggar swings the hammer again at the specter.
I yell to the specter, as I throw my magic dagger at him:
'Why don't you pick someone your size, anvil head?'
I'll then ready my mace to strike if he comes after me, using
a short sword to parry any attack.
Biladoc yells to the specter, as he throws his magic dagger at him:
'Why don't you pick someone your size, anvil head?'
The dagger strikes and sticks in the translucent form.
Carynth strikes a torch and heads into the fray to hit the frosty little
gnome with the fire. (So good to finally have an idea....)
She swings her torch missing the Dwarven Specter.
Humphrey swings at the Specter again. His Short Sword again cuts a chunk out
Beleg Whitehelm (The specter).
Saggar's Hammer swings again but misses the specter.
Kinson seems shocked by the blow the Specter landed on him and staggers back.
At the same time Grumach swings his chain again in an attempt to disarm
Beleg. Grumach's chain passes right through the Dwarf's axe. Meanwhile Ulath
stands there holding his holy symbol up. The Specter reaches out and grabs
Humphrey by the arm. (8 hit points of damage and -2 levels again...I have a
bad feeling that did you in. Sorry.......). Humphrey's arm and body turns
white almost pasty as the cold spreads through his body.
Ok people, once more we are in some deep trouble!
I was feeling completely useless and without ideas, till I finished reading
R. A Salvatore's Cleric Quintet! So Mighty GM this Idea its not mine but from the book: I,
Ulath, a priest, will spend this round blessing the water in my waterskin! Next round I'll
have a waterskin full of holly water!
Ok Charles, I know that Salvatore his "very free with gifts to his players" or book
characters, but I'm not asking (yet) for crossbow bolts filled with a vial of "Oil of
Impact".
Carynth, seeing actual weapons hitting, drops her torch and attacks with
her scimitar, hoping it is not just finely made, but actually a plus
weapon.... (just a secret hope she's always had)
I charge the specter with my mace, using a short sword to parry any
attack from him. I'll try to get Humphrey's short sword. If I can get
hold of it, I'll strike at the specter two attacks per round (as long
as I'm still standing, of course). ;-)
Kinson realizes this might be his last battle. If he is in a better position to grab
Humphrey's sword than Biladoc, he'll do it, and attack the specter.
If the situation presents itself, Kinson will gladly sacrifice himself for one of his
friends, by jumping in the way of the attacking specter (Not in a suicidal way, but by
interposing himself between a severely weakened or downed party member and the specter).
Grumach and Ulath cast bless spells on their respective water skins.
Saggar continues to swing the spiritual hammer at the specter as he backs up
down the hall. Saggar's floating hammer hits
Carynth, seeing actual weapons hitting, drops her torch and attacks with
her scimitar, hoping it is not just finely made, but actually a plus
weapon....Carynth swings and misses the specter.
Biladoc charges the specter with my mace, using a short sword to parry any
attack from him. He tries to reach Humphrey's short sword But Kinson gets it
first. Biladoc swing goes wide.
Kinson realizes this might be his last battle. If he is in a better position
to grab Humphrey's sword than Biladoc, he'll do it, and attack the specter.
Kinson grabs Humphrey's sword and brings hi won up to parry any blow. The
Specter reaches for Kinson but misses him.
End of round actions? Ulath and Grumach both have skins of blessed water.
Saggar has backed up and his hammer spell ends this round. Biladoc and
Carynth are in melee with the specter as is Kinson who just go hold of
Humphrey's sword.
A dark shadowy form raises out of Humphrey's prone body....
Yes Humphrey just a specter in someone's eye.
Ack, sorry......
I am more powerful than before. Feel my power!
OOC: :-)
Grumach will try to splash the dwarf with holy water, while skirting
Humphrey's shade.
Why is it every fight we get into these days we have to retreat from?
Seeing Grumach splashing the dwarf with holy water, Ulath will
squeeze his waterskin to splash Humphrey's specter as he yells and
backs to the entrance:
'Get out of here. Everybody out, NOW!'
Biladoc, seeing two specters and the two fireman at work, tumbles out
of reach of the specters, heading for the door that leads to the
dwarf statue, saying to the others:
'Let's get out of here, before we too became specters!'
After splashing water, Grumach will bolt, too.
Carynth will follow common sense, and retreat with her party members.
Grumach attempts to splash the Specter of the dwarf with Holy water. The holy
water splashes both specters as well as Kinson. As it splashes the specters
they scream in agony as smoke rises from them.
Ulath yells, "Get out of here. Everybody out, NOW!' as he also splashes water
towards the specters. His water strikes the two of them as well. Again
screams rise up from the undead duo as the blessed water strikes them.
Biladoc yells, 'Let's get out of here, before we too became specters!' As he
tumbles and makes a run for the western exit. His magic dagger left behind
embedded in the dwarven specter. Kinson quickly says almost to himself,
"Sorry." as he grabs Humphrey's sword and brings it up in a slashing motion.
The short sword cuts into the Specter that used to be Humphrey.
Carynth retreats to the west as well. Grumach looks like he is thinking of
running.
Saggar seems amazed that his spiritual hammer is now gone. he begins casting
another spell.
The dwarven specter disappears in a cloud of holy and unholy steam. Biladoc's
magic dagger dropping to the ground. Humphrey's specter swipes at Kinson but
misses. he is badly injured and seems disoriented with the passing of the
other specter.
ACTIONS FOLKS
Does Grumach have any holy water? If so he'll go to splashing.
If not, he'll back off to make another batch.
Taking advantage of the disorientation of the specter (I don't think
we should call him Humphrey anymore), I'll recover my dagger and
throw it at him saying at the same time:
'Grumach , Ulath, keep watering him. That's our only chance.'
If the first specter "died", we can not leave Humphrey's soul in such a torment!
Keep the bath on Grumach!
With this Ulath will spray more holly water on Humphrey's specter!
Sorry. I must've missed something. No more first specter?
Correct. The dwarf specter vaporized.
I believe I have already sent Kinson's next move to Charles. But in case I haven't --
Attack!
Biladoc , Taking advantage of the disorientation of the specter (I don't
think
we should call him Humphrey anymore), I'll recover my dagger and
throw it at him saying at the same time:
'Grumach , Ulath, keep watering him. That's our only chance.' Biladoc manages
to recover the dagger but is unable to throw it this round.
Grumach splatters the last remnants of his holy water towards the remaining
specter. However, his spray of holy water misses the Specter.
With this Ulath will spray more holly water on Humphrey's specter! His water
sputters out as well. Ulath's aim is better and douses the specter in holy
water. it screams as steam rises from its transparent body. As the water
hits the ground it forms into pools of blood that dry quickly before yours
eyes.
Kinson swings Humphrey's sword at his specter.
Kinson swings and misses the Specter. He brings up is other sword in a
guarding motion.
Saggar and Carynth seems confused and disoriented. Carynth however is on the
way out of the room. The enraged specter swats Ulath to the side as it moves
with rapid speed. The blow does 4 hit points of damage and drains Ulath of 2
energy levels including hit points associated with them. It screams in rage
as it look around for its next target. It seems weak yet deadly!
Grumach will begin blessing a new pouch.
Does he have two water skins? Usually people have one or none.
Does bless hurt the undead? What about Cure Light Wounds (it being an
infusion of positive energy)?
Grumach probably doesn't have an additional waterskin.
I'll throw my dagger at the specter and throw my waterskin to Grumach
or Ulath, readying my mace to strike at the specter if he approaches
me:
'Use this, priests. Carynth, give them your waterskin, quick.'
Grumach will move to catch any waterskin thrown to him. If none are
forthcoming, he'll try to keep his distance from the specter. Actually,
since Grumach can't likely do both actions at once (transfer item + cast
spell), he'll just catch the waterskin and try to avoid the melee.
Seeing the hatred the specter shows toward party members, Kinson redoubles his efforts and
attacks the specter with all his might. "Be gone evil creature!"
Withdraw down the hall as I conjure another spiritual hammer and attack it.
Let Grumach have my waterskin
The hall turns after twenty feet or so. If you withdraw any further you will
be around the corner.
I toss my water skin and quit retreating down the hall, instead standing
ready with my scimitar if the shade comes close...
I'll throw my dagger at the specter and throw my waterskin to Grumach
or Ulath, readying my mace to strike at the specter if he approaches
me:
'Use this, priests. Carynth, give them your waterskin, quick.'
Biladoc's Dagger finds its mark sinking deep into the shade. It screams in
fury as it continues to lash out at the adventurers.
Grumach will move to catch any waterskin thrown to him. If none are
forthcoming. Three land in Grumach's hands or at his feat.
Ulath rushes to assist Grumach saying, "Quickly bless this water again so
that we may finish it. "
There is a low growl as Flint the hound leaps towards the specter. The dog
interposes itself between Kinson who has just slipped and would be open for a
killing blow and the Specter. The Specter strikes the faithful hound sending
it careening across the floor toward Ulath. Ulath screams as he sees his dog
felled.
Seeing the hatred the specter shows toward party members, Kinson redoubles
his efforts and attacks the specter with all his might. "Be gone evil
creature!" Kinson's swings miss the specter as it parries his swings with his
shadow sword.
Saggar Throws his waterskin to Grumach and begins casting His spiritual
hammer spell again.
Carynth tosses her water skin and quits retreating down the hall, instead
standing ready with her scimitar if the shade comes close...
NEXT ROUND and hopefully the last.
Grumach blesses water, unless he already did during the round you just
posted (it was unclear). If he has blessed water, he throws it, otherwise,
he arranges for blessed water next round.
Sorry for the confusion. He has blessed it.
In that case, *splash*
Swinging the spiritual hammer at the specter
Seeing the priests starting to splash the specter, I'll move close to
them, with my mace ready to strike, but trying to keep away from any
attack (not much HP and levels to spare).
OOC:
What now?! A dog specter?! We'll never get this over with... ;-)
Grumach splashes the holy water on the Specter of Humphrey as well as on
the Specter of the dog that was just issuing out of he hounds body. Kinson's
strikes felling the Humphrey specter with a mighty blow. A ghostly hammer
flies across the room and strikes at the hound specter. Striking it soundly on
the head. Carynth waits in the hallway. Biladoc waits near Grumach. Ulath
just stands there in shock. The Hound Specter lunges forward towards Biladoc,
Ulath , and Grumach. Ulath snaps out of his trance as the hound latches onto
to his leg doing 3 hit points of damage and draining two energy levels. He
splashes one of Grumach's holy water skins on the beast sending up a cloud of
steam as the creature howls in pain. Then Biladoc swings the mace with
incredible accuracy causing the specter hound to explode!.
They are gone and many members have wounds from this battle. Deep wounds I am
afraid. What now?
Now, it's the time to mourn the dead and try to recover from this hard battle. Let us leave the party to do just that and rejoin them in the next chapter.
