DM
The three bands join in front of the green Dragon Inn. The guards
just north can see the large band of warriors and other forming at
the Green Dragon. They look a little nervous. Or maybe its just plan
fearful.
As best as I can tell. Kinson, Humphrey, Lapis, and Dain have
recovered the attractive black robed female prisoner and brought her
out. Kinson has made a suggestion that they contact the female in
white robes they met earlier that told them she lived on the Street
of Shadows(As best as I recall).
Felix seems to have crawled out with the other band including,
Gathrax, Kaddar, Carynth, Fraxen, Grumach, Kiya, Biladoc, Alof. They
have met with the third group at the front of the Green Dragon and
are conversing.
Tarin, Ulath, Serian, and Kelandil from the third band are there as
well conversing. Tarin seems to want to get out of the way. And to
answer Ulath, Kaddar appears to have elven blood but is wearing a hat
to disguise his ears. Draco is also elven. He seems wounded. Those
are the only elves in those two bands.
So right now there are 18 adventurers, one dog and one prisoner in
front of the Green Dragon Inn. It would seem to be a small army. I
shall post every ones e-mail address which happen to be included in
this message, later. Just to make sure no one is left out.
SERIAN
Serian bows deeply, "I do not simply retreat to the sewers to
plunder the thieves guild. They are a force for chaos and evil in
this city, and employ orcs as allies. They are as bad as the tyrant
of this land: a plague to be cured. You are welcome to join us, but
you will not find me to be a simply interested in adventure. I
cannot speak for others, but I have purpose in going to the sewers."
CARYNTH
The druid shrugs lightly and says, "'SE' Okay. I'm of to town for some
supplies and then I'll come back here with my party. Good luck, tho!
Perhaps we'll meet on the morrow." Turning to members of her party,
"Anyone else need anything or would like to go?"
DM
Carynth and her band goes to the grate to bury the two dead. Draco
suggest that they bury them there under crushed stalactite and other
rocks et.. For dragging the dead into the city might bring up a lot of
questions from the already nervous guards. Draco looks at Alof, 'So
friend, how have things been going. I am feeling a little stronger
now. Have you learned how to read Draconian yet?"
ALOF
'I have been adventuring and I met these nice people at the Green Dragon.
What have you done with yourself lately?'
DRACO
"I travelled south here looking for an evil cousin of mine. It turns out he is
a member of the Thieves guild and they captured me. They
have held me for over six months torturing me to keep me weak."
ALOF
Could you tell me if you know anything more about this sword you gave
me. I mean does it do anything than glow when orcs are around."
DRACO
"It is magical and cuts better than usual. (+1 to hit and
damage plus detects orcs 100 foot radius.)"
BILADOC
I take out my rope and tie it to the grate, so that we can go down.
Before entering, I put my head through the hole. If everything looks
safe, I'll go down.
Near the bodies of John and Jamison, I say to the party:
'Draco is right, it's safer to bury them here. I... this may sound
cruel or insensitive of me but... I think we should see if they got
something we could use, like weapons or magical components or
artifacts... Gathrax, you came with John, what do you say?'
GATHRAX
"It is sad that John was with us but a short time, but he can help us
even in death by providing magical supplies. Then, I think we should
give both him and Jameson a decent burial here."
I then search the bodies for anything useful, particularly John's
spell book and components. Oh...and cash.
"Now that we've found Felix, we're just down here to vanquish evil,
right? Did you guys have anything in mind, especially regarding this
guild I hear so much about but am still totally flummoxed by?"
ALOF
I go to the body that looks most warrior like and search it. If I
find any armour heavier than studded leather I offer it to Fraxen.
DM
The buccaneer wore no armor that you can see. He has a cutlass and a
dagger. Neither seems unusual.
ALOF
I take the dagger. I'll take the cutlass if no one else wants it.
DM
Searching of John of Viken reveals several pouches with herbs et.
There are two books. One is an old book in Kenil that is a primer for
how to read Draconic and speak it as well. It looks quite old and
well worn. The other is John Spell book with the following spells in
it: Read Magic, Sleep, Feather Fall, and Grease.
His belt pouch contained 15 gold coins and 25 silver ones.
BILADOC
I approach John and take any weapons, papers, pouches, whatever he's
carrying. I then look around the cave, looking for anything left on
the ground by former victims of the Alberts.
After this search and the burial of our friends, I say to the party:
'I suggest we go back to the Green Dragon. Perhaps we can find Shanna
and ask her about what has been going on in town.'
I turn to Carynth:
'You were also interested in going to an old bookshop, looking for
someone called Dereck, right?'
CARYNTH
I reply carefully, "Indeed we were. Indeed we were. However, I have
also taken an interest in this thieves' guild you hate so much. Would you
tell me a little about it?"
DM
What will the band do now?????
ALOF
After taking the dagger I'll take the cutlass and then turning to the
party I say "Shouldn't we meet the other's at the Green Dragon?"
BILADOC
Finishing my search of the cavern (do I find anything?) I say to Alof:
'Yes, the knights will meet us there. I'd like to know more about
them and also about that other group we met.'
I say to the party:
' I'd like to talk to Shanna again. She seems to be well informed
about everything that goes on in town. Maybe we can discuss that
dwarf's plan of raiding the Thieves Guild afterwards, when the others join us.'
I'll start to go up the rope and wait in the alley for the others to join me.
ALOF
Seeing that Biladoc is going up the rope I follow him up and go to the
Green Dragon.
DM
Is everyone else going up the rope and to the Green Dragon Inn?
CARYNTH
Shaking my head at some of the gibberish that comes from my mouth, I
follow, too, tho I mumble about being sure it was Biladoc who wanted
to raid that thieves guild, and how old age just isn't fun.... At any
rate, I have an active interest in a spell book, if anyone is feeling
generous.
Do I need to question anyone in John's party about borrowing it?
DM
The group climbs out of the cave and back onto the street. Looking
around they see that the morning has been burned away by the
afternoon sun. The winds blows sending a chill into everyone.
Several wagons can be seen going towards the north gate.
Actions: Where to et?
CARYNTH
Carynth will be heading to a store for a scimitar, then the Green Dragon.
DM
You know there is a store past the Green Dragon south on the Street of
Swords. You pass the Green Dragon. As you do you see Shanna entering
the Inn. The streets are kinda light with traffic for this time of day.
CARYNTH
In an effort to move things along, after I buy my scimitar, back to
the Green Dragon with me! On an aside, I will keep my eyes and ears
out for uniformed guards, the number of them and all in the streets,
just so I'll have something interesting to say when we get back to the
bard!
BILADOC
I'll take the rope and hook, put them in my backpack and head for the
Green Dragon. I'll join Shanna (and Felix - he's inside, right?).
I'll say to Shanna:
'Hello again. Your information was correct. We found Felix and Lord
Humphrey at the temple of Diabolis. The others will be coming here
soon. Maybe then you can tell us about what as been going on in town
since this morning.'
I turn to Felix and say:
'Well cousin, long time no see. What have you been up to?'
SHANNA
Shanna looks very serious and the usual smile fades from her face.
"The best I can make out the King has outlawed being elven? He has
asked that all person's of elvish blood register. From what I have
heard some of those at least that have registered have never been
seen again. But it is too early to really tell. The army is attacking
Los Vain last I heard. Things are very tense. In fact so tense I
think I am going to have to head out soon. "
BILADOC
I introduce Shanna and Felix:
'This is my cousin Felix. Felix, this is Shanna, she helped us
finding you and your friends.'
I then say in a lower voice, translating everything that Shanna and
Felix say to each other (if Shanna doesn't speak Zanta):
'Where are you going to, Shanna? We met some elves today, they are
staying in the sewers, near the Thieves Guild. Besides Kaddar,
there's now another elf with us, Draco. I think they will be glad to
get out of town, too.'
I tell Shanna what happened in the cavern and how we met the elves.
After that, I call the inn keeper and ask for a beer and some food.
SHANNA
She speaks fluent Zanta
"I am uncertain where I shall go. I shall go wherever the road leads me.
I am glad you where able to find them. How is the lord Humphrey?"
BILADOC
I say to Shanna:
'Lord Humphrey is fine. He was taking an evil priestess to some
friend of his and was coming here afterwards. I think we should wait
for him and his friends here and then join the elves we met.'
ALOF
I follow Biladoc Into the in and when I hear him tell Shanna about
Draco I tell her "Shanna that is the one I was telling you about who
taught me Draconic."
SHANNA
Shanna nods her head, "I am glad Humphrey is ok." She looks
towards Draco,"This is the one?"
DRACO
Draco smiles and nods,"She lady song singer. I am the one. Did I not
see you at the house of Tears some three years ago. As I recall you
played a harp that eve?"
SHANNA
Shanna seems surprised,"You where there? .....I see." She turns back
toward the band. "Let us sit."
FRAXEN
Fraxen wades forward finding a table near the fire place that is
empty. He sits ands motions for the serving wench o come over. As
the serving wench approaches he says:
"A cold dwarven draft please lady."
KADDAR
Siting next to Fraxen: 'Should you not keep a clear head? Lady I
prefer hot cider if you will."
FRAXEN
"Who needs a clear head when your as good as I."
DRACO
Draco sits and just smiles at them both,"I feel like I am at home."
SHANNA
Shanna sits and waits for the rest to join her and the others. "Would
you like to hear a story or a song?"
ALOF
Turning to Shanna I say " Sure how about one telling us what you've
been up to."
SHANNA
Shanna shaking her head, 'That's not a story nor a song."
ALOF
Turning to Draco I say "How did you learn to speak Draconic if I may
ask? By the way what have you been doing with yourself lately?"
Turning to the party I ask "What next guys?"
DRACO
Draco,"You could say the language just comes naturally to me. I am a
very studious sort. As far as to what I have been doing I came here
to Pensula looking for a criminal named Night Gaunt. He is a nasty
foe. I was captured by that evil temple and discovered they they knew
who Night Gaunt was. In fact He came to see me and made sure that I
was tortured often to keep me week. If you should run across him you
need to take care."
KADDAR
" What are our options? We can wait for the others to join us
or go looking for the ones that went into the sewer? And after that
as I understand we have the options of attacking an evil temple,
raiding the thieves guild, or going out of the city towards the war
and beyond."
FRAXEN
"I say we go where the most profit is." He guzzles some
dwarven beer that the serving wench brings him.
BILADOC
I say to Shanna:
'You choose. Do you prefer a song or a story?'
I then turn to the party and say with a smile:
'I'm with Fraxen. Lets go for the gold. And that seems to be the
Thieves Guild. I say we wait for the knights and then join the
elves, Grumach and the dwarf in the sewers. What do you say?'
SHANNA
Shanna,"No sirs the choice is yours. Of course I do just as well
drinking some of the beer you have there Fraxen."
FRAXEN
Fraxen wraps his arms round the pitcher of dwarven beer and gives her a mean stare.
FELIX
Felix is standing there with a stunned
look on his face. (hopefully this won't happen again (We don't have
a packard bell anymore))
Felix shakes his head and drags the bard to a corner and asks her
something what you can't tell.
ALOF
After listening to Biladoc and Fraxen I say "let's get the gold! I'm
up for joining the rest of the guys and knocking off the guild."
SHANNA
Shanna shakes her head at Alof,"I am unsure if you want the gold or
if you want to knock off your competition." She laughs at the
Halflings expression as she says this.
BILADOC
I'll try to understand what Felix asked Shanna (reading lips).
After Shanna's remark about competition, I look awkwardly at Alof and
then say with a smile:
'Well, what's wrong with mixing business with pleasure?! Now,
changing the subject, tell us a story, Shanna. I'll be glad to offer
you a nice cold beer.'
I turn to Fraxen and slap him strongly in the back as he was taking
another sip, making him spill some of the beer in his beard:
'And I'll buy you another drink, too, Fraxen my brave friend.'
I signal the girl to bring drinks for everybody:
'This one's on me, guys and gals.'
DM
Felix is asking something about how she knows him.
SHANNA
Shanna,"A Story then. How about the story of the Dragon Wars?"
BILADOC
I say to Shanna:
'Go ahead. We have a long night ahead and plenty to drink and eat.'
FRAXEN
Fraxen he starts to get mad as he spills his beer but cheers up at
the mention of Biladoc buying him a new one. He slaps Biladoc on the
back nearly knocking him over, "Bring it on good friend Biladoc."
BILADOC
Shadow screeches as I stumble, flying away and perching on the back
of an empty chair at our table. I look at him and say:
'It's ok, Shadow. I know what you want. Hey, lass! Bring some raw
meat for my friend, will you? And I'm sorry for calling you a
chicken. Carynth was right, I too would have run away.'
I turn to the party:
'But enough! A toast:
And with this toast we leave the party partying. Next chapter we'll hear Shanna's story and finally rest from such a busy day. Until then, lets drink, sing and be merry.
