![]() (1942) Heinlein tackles themes of genetic planning in futuristic human society. Considering the current, popular gloom and doom trend of genetic manipulation stories, Beyond This Horizon shows a positive and even humorous side to the subject. However, I found the book to generally dull, and the characters definitely so. There are a few dabblings in thought-quirking side themes (conspiratorial societies (Survivors Club), telepathy, illuminati (Planners), gene-matched marriages, the meaning of life...), but none of them were developed to a point of endearing interest. Notable quotes: There is a difference between constructive imagination, and wild, uncontrolled daydreams. ![]() ![]() Click here --> to order this book (paperback) from ![]() ![]() ![]() |
