For ages now that question has been stirring up an unbelievable amount of interest amongst geek and
non-geek alike. Who would you cast as Spider-Man???
I think the reason this particular piece of casting is such a hot topic
right now is because almost everyone feels a certain connection to or afinity with Spidey. Spidey is the 'every-man' of the
super hero world. He's not a super powered being like Superman, nor is he a wealthy playboy with the means to support his
super hero persona like Bruce Wayne. He's just an average guy with all the problems the rest of us have, couple with the
burden of responisbility that comes with his great powers. We all feel like we're Spider-Man, which is why this particular
piece of casting is so personal.
THE WAIT IS OVER!!!
That's right dear friends, it's finally come to pass that Spider-man has been cast. You'll of course understand if I pat myself on the back, because my long time favourite has snagged the role ;) This page will remain of course, as there are plenty of other roles to cast, so stay wired ;)
So, how do I think the Movie should go? Well, since I'm casting I get to decide that too ;) In my oppinion the current
retelling of Spider-Man's origin and first year are a good place to start. it's not perfect by any means, but it contains a
number of updates that I think would translate well to film. I mean, who really believes a highschool or University would be
having open-air radiation experiments without any protection between the students and the hazardous material? ;)
Personally, I think the story would do well with some small adjustments.
Perhaps making Peter a College student as opposed to highschool, this doesn't change much for the story, but does open up
more possibilities in the casting department. Now, don't confuse that with setting the movie in college with flashbacks to
his origin, what I propose here is changing the story so Spidey gets his powers while in college. The combining of Spidey's
Origin with Doc Oc in "Spider-Man: Chapter One" would be a great move for the film and gives us the perfect way to introduce
a super-villian into the film without making the double origin such a scripting mess. Anyways, just a couple of thoughts.
Anyhow, enough of my yacking. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you my casting call for:
