TRAVEL EARRING HOLDER

Don't you just hate trying to figure out how to keep your earrings in some semblance of order when you are traveling?  I know I do.  It becomes a major pain to try to figure out what to put them in, in order to be able to find them when you want them.

Here is a pretty nifty, really quick little item that you can crochet in an evening with yarn from your stash.  Closed.jpg (10413 bytes)

MATERIALS:

Small amounts of worsted weight yarn (two or three colors)

Size G crochet hook

3" plastic canvas circle

Velcro dot (stick on or sew on type)                                        Open.jpg (6664 bytes)

FIRST CIRCLE:

Ch 3, 11 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join with sl st in top of ch 3.

Rnd 1:  Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around; join with sl st in top of ch 3.

Rnd 2:  Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, *1dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc*, repeat around; join with sl st in top of ch 3.  Fasten off, weave in loose ends.

SECOND CIRCLE:With earrings.jpg (59319 bytes)

Repeat directions for First Circle, but do not fasten off.

Row 1:  Ch 3, dc in next 11 dc, turn.

Rows 2-3:  Repeat Row 1.

Row 4:  Ch1, sc in same st and in next 3 dc, hdc in next 4 dc, sc in next 3 dc.  Work 3 sc in last dc, then working down the side, work 3 sc around the side of each row of dc to the start of the circle part.  Put First Circle wrong sides together with Second circle piece, and sc them together all the way around, to the beginning of Row 1.  Work 3sc in around the side of each row of dc, join with sl st in ch 1.  Fasten off, weave in loose ends.

TRIM:

With contrasting color, join yarn at bottom of flap.  *Ch 1, skip 1, 5dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next st.*  Work in this manner around, fudging if necessary to put the shells on the corners of the flap.

Fasten off, weave in loose ends. Closeup.jpg (80755 bytes)

FINISHING:

Put plastic canvas circle inside, position and apply Velcro dots for closure.

Fasten your post earrings onto the plastic canvas circle when you are going to travel, stick the little pouch in your suitcase or your purse and you won't lose any earrings.
