NewComm Dispatch in Allegheny County

From the wpascanner list - January ?22, 2000

Police

ch.1-this is the channel used to dispatch all the calls. in emergency situations this is the channel that is used for the cars involved.

ch.2- this is the channel where they run all license/plate info. boring at times but worth monitoring. during emergencies they move all dispatch to this channel until ch.1 is done being used.

ch.3-5- these channels are used as "talk around" you will hear on ch.1 someone telling someone else to switch to "3"(channel 3)...u should scan these frequencies as there is not much activity and dont cause u to miss anything on the other frequencies.

ch.6-10- no need for programming. can only be heard when the cars are close togeather and i rarely hear these channels being used. waste of space.

Fire

ch.1- used only for dispatch. definitly program

ch.2-3 used to respond to calls and used until all units are on the scene....the officer in charge at the scene stays in contact with newcom via these channels

ch.4-10 fireground channels.....they use these channels after all units are on the scene....cant hear unless your within 1-2 miles of the scene....worth programming ....but lock them out .....only unlock if you are near the scene

EMS

ch.1- used for all dispatch and response....program

ch.2-3 used as talk around or used at scenes in which alot of radio traffic is in use

Other channels to monitor .......are EMA(472.0625)

If your close to hampton you can hear there high band at 151.2800 - hope this helps.......brian
