New Delhi: Ten people including six children and two women died of asphyxiation when a devastating fire broke out in two shops in east Delhi in the wee hours Sunday. Fire brigade and police sources said the victims lived in the corridor behind the shops and could not escape. They were found dead when the fire tenders reached the spot. One person was admitted to the Swami Dayanand Hospital. The report of the fire in an electrical shop and a shop selling inflammable polythene sheets was first reported at 01:50 Hrs (IST) and three fire tenders doused the fire after four hours of fire fighting. Police are investigating into the cause of the accident and verifying the identity of the dead. UNI
