Comments: Established in 1936 by a vote of the town council, a full line of officers and volunteers was organized July 7, 1938. Teton County covers 2,800 square miles, of which only 110 square miles are privately owned. Most of the county is federal land. Bridger Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, and we are the gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Our department is the major support for fighting fire on the surrounding federal land.
