Dispatch Operations -
One firefighter staffs the fire dispatch center at Fire HQ at all times. No paging is used. Boxes are not beeped on the radio. Stations are alerted via telegraphic bell system or landline. No paging is done on 153.95. 154.43 is the input to the 153.95 repeater. Dedham FD also uses 153.95 with a different PL - lots of interference occurs between Dedham and Needham units. The South Potland Maine FD can be heard skipping into the Needham repeater at times when the weather is just right.

Ambulance Operations - R1 is staffed by 2 firefighter/EMTS. ALS is provided by nontransport unit based at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. Patients are usually transported to Glover Hospital in Needham.
